All the buses and rolling train stock in NYC subways and commuter lines have A/C. The platforms sadly do not.

In Athens (Greece's Capital City) only the trains of line 1 and the trains of line 3 that go to the airport have aircondition. The Metro Stations have no aircondition and sometimes during the rush hour in the summer the air is hot!

I can't imagine metros without airconditioning especially those in tropical countries.

Barcelona has AC on all trains but not on platforms. At summer the AC usually runs too heavy, at the point I sometimes have to bring with me some additional clothing only to avoid getting a cold

Singapore have air conditioning in all Underground stations but sometimes it is not cold enough. All rolling stocks has air-conditioning but the C751B (built in 2000), C151 Refurbished (Refurbished 2006 - 2008) and Alstom Metropolis 751A (built in 2003) to me is much more colder compared to the unrefurbished C151 and C651.

C151 Unrefurbished

C151 Refurbished

C651 (Due for refurbishment 2010)

C751B

Alstom Metropolis 751A (Front pictures is rare as it is fully underground)

Above ground stations will soon get half height PED to prevent accidents and it will make use of crosswind effects. (If I type wrong about this one please correct me, I did not really hear properly what SMRT said)

In Toronto, all subway cars except the oldest have heating and cooling. The stations do not, except in shops and offices. All buses have heat; newer buses have cooling as well. Streetcars have heat; there's supposed to be a program to add cooling to the streetcars, but as far as I know, only one streetcar has been converted.

If anyone is interested in the plans for cooling the London Underground, see here, normal air-conditioning is impossible on the deep level lines, so many other ideas have been mooted...

In Wuppertal (Germany) the monorail and the S-Bahn have no A/C.

In Cologne (Germany) the S-Bahn has A/C and the new Stadtbahn cars have A/C too.

Actually the Athens metro vehicles will all have A/C system until the summer, the new vehicles didn't had A/C but only heating and air cleaning systems but they will be upgraded.

That makes the stations that much hotter and more hellish waiting for a train.

They should work on improving the ventilation through the tunnels.

My list here

Canada ---> Toronto

China ---> Beijing (only recently), Tianjin, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, HongKong, Chongqing (monorail),

USA ---> Detroit (if you call it a metro, I like to think of it as a theme park attraction)

It really doesn't. Like everywhere, it is much cooler underground, and as long as venting is good there will be no problem. And ventilation in Toronto is very surpurb.

1st Barcelona metro train with air conditioned was in 1986 and, since 1992 (Olympic Games), all metro trains have got air conditioned.
