Here in Rotterdam they are, however, underground stations keep being nastily hot during summer months. Amsterdam is worse though, but since a few years the new M5 rolling stock has AC as well. It is cooler air than outside, though not of the pneumonia-causing type like trains in Indonesia. It is the same as on the train system, 25 is good enough when it is 35.

35 however cannot be reached easily as far north as Amsterdam. Rotterdam has seen it more despite also not having those summers we experience down south in Brabant (Tilburg, Eindhoven).

Since it is getting warmer during summers the necessity for AC heavily increased. No longer we can give the excuse that it is for just three days of 27 degrees like in 1970 when the metro's were built, because we have up to fifteen, actually, 25 of these days now annually while 35 degrees is increasingly common on annual basis in the south. Eindhoven is a boiling greenhouse even in April (29 absolute max) and May (33 max), contrasting to the Wadden Islands where investing in AC would still be bogus (31 max in July versus 38 in Eindhoven and 34/35 in Amsterdam).

So we get used to have the AC turned on here, although we still relate this to a holiday in Spain actually.

Relieving the pressure on Dutch housing market: we need more apartments and taller apartment buildings, no single-family dwellings anymore!

Prohibit the construction of new single-family dwellings without stacking apartments in Amsterdam (A10), Rotterdam (motorway ring), The Hague, Utrecht (outer ring), Eindhoven (ring), Tilburg (ringbanen) and Groningen (provincial ring)!

And prohibit the use of agricultural land for new dwellings!
