The Cannon St station footbridge is having its planning permission renewed. Lets hope they can get funding before it runs out again.

This is the current site.

Nice classical facade although with questionable 80s makeover, the dodgy roof and dark tinted windows. The rusticated first two levels are actually very nice, I hope this facade will be saved.

Next to it is this 50s stone clad block, the buildings on Fenchurch Avenue are in a similar style.

^ There's another scheme planned just to the east -

http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=456313

Looks like this whole area is being redeveloped.

From Construction News -

Planning looks Splendid for Southwark hotel

Plans for an eight storey 196-room hotel a stone's throw away from the Tate Modern gallery in south London are expected to get the thumbs up next week.

Hotel group Splendid's plans for the Bear House scheme on Great Suffolk Street go before Southwark Council's planning committee next Tuesday (26 February).

The Dexter Moren-designed project already has a recommendation for approval from the borough's planning department.

As well as the main hotel the project includes a 134 room apart-hotel and a conference facility for up to 700 people.

What number is the above? EDIT- I see it now, its 3rd along to the right.
This is 120 Fenchurch St.

Although it is a large site containing quit a few buildings. I hope it isn't another Plantation place.

5 Cheapside D&A documents.

It is more in keeping with one NC than Paternoster Square.
Cladding will be tripled glazed with woven metal Brass farbric interlayer.

Is that the best they could do? A boring brown lump with a couple of angles. It's no better than what's there now.

That last rendering looks like cladding from the 70's/80s. Load of shite IMHO.

I'd have prefered something a bit smaller but I quite like the material.

Thanks for all the updates this morning london lad.

Not sure Foxy. I agree it looks poor - I think it will attract a lot of flak.

At least the pro-classicists will have something to cheer at Tottenham Court Road. The new development next to the Dominion Theatre is by Quinlan Terry.

Incidently the large development at Covent Garden seems to be gathering pace. A number of buildings on St Martin's Lane including the Marquee Club have closed. The Marquee has been issued with a demolition notice.

Fantastic. Looks very neat - will smarten up what is currently a fairly grotty part of the West End.

I've been wondering what they're building there. I work less than 2 minutes from the site, and have been watching the demolition progress. It's quite strange seeing a massive gap in the street like that. I'll try to get some pics.

Haha, thats so sad. Quinlan Terry designed Building replaces a lovely little excentric Victorian building.
And right next to the Architectural Association!

Quilan Terry! Good grief - I despair. The Nimbys will love this pile of nosense. It's not even very good 'classical' architecture. Are the areas between each column entirely glazed? If this looks anything other than cheap and tacky I will be amazed!

Shame about those buildings on St Martins lane. What was I saying in an earlier post about us Brits destroying real heritage and replacing it with fake! Low and behold no sooner had I spoken! This country makes me want to scream sometimes!!!!!!!!!

Hang on, as far as I know it's just the Marquee that has been issued with the demolition notice. We'll have to wait and see about the others.
