Freiburg, Germany

Freiburg is a beautiful University city in the very southwest corner of Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany. I spent a few quick days in this lovely town, this past August 2007. There is a great vibe about this place...known to be the sunniest and warmest in all of Germany. Perhaps, the California of Germany. Lovely clean swimming lakes, gardens, and biking paths.
I plan on returning as soon as possible!

Isn't Freiburg the only German city to be administered by a Mayor who is a member of Die Grünen? Show's that Green parties don't mess up everything they touch at least! Fantastic shots and what an inviting gateway to the Black Forest region.

Does anyone have any slightly larger pictures though?

Sorry about the picture size...my first ever photo post...they appeared large on my computer before uploading to Flickr.

There are many green-neighbourhoods, where the roofs are covered in solar panels and built with energy efficient or recycled materials.

Hey no worries, they are great shots, just a little small. I think many photo sites (though I've never used Flickr) actually resize your photos for you and you can select the size you want them to be compressed to. All my photos would otherwise be 1800x1200 which is a bit too large for most people.

Keep up the shooting!

Freiburg is often held up in Environmental Management classes (I took one paper as an elective out of interest for my general education requirement) as a pioneer in terms of sustainability so it's good to see that there are some very obvious efforts being made in the city (such as the photovoltic cells et al).

Great pictures, but this thread should be in the new Urban Showcase for original photographs.

I've been there, it's a fantastic place, right in the middle of the Black Forest. The surroundings are amazing, and there's a nice park on a hill with great views. Pity it was cloudy when I visited the place. We went to a funk disco somewhere in Freiburg.
And there's a gorgeous gallery with restaurants from all over the world...
