Rober, thank you VERY much. It's emotional for me to see the Orange Bowl fade away into memory but I'm grateful for your beautiful photos as this process gets underway. Even the black and white tones you used really fit the mood.

Excellent work, and thanks again.

Great pictures of our soon-to-be history Orange Bowl.

you're in luck

That's pretty much the plan by the river commission, you will be happy
when you see the new connected green way along both banks with the restaurants and mixed use projects you describe.

Yep! Right on...the Miami River Greenway plan has been adopted and garnered National Awards for design. Check out the Miami River Commission website for the full plan.
For starters, spend a few minutes in some of the benches at the mouth of the Miami River. At One Miami Perez put about $4M worth of art on the public right of way. There are two excellent restaurants there as well. As the river continues to devleop, the Miami River Greenway will extend 6.2 miles to the airport and connect with the baywalk so that residents of, let's say....the Ivy, can walk all the way from their apartment to AA Arena or the Adriene Arcsht Center.
By the way, I took in Spamalot there last night....great show!!!

It no longer has any tenants (the Hurricanes are moving to Dolphin Stadium) and the site is going to be used for the new Marlins ballpark.

Saw it on Broadway last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. Very funny show (although it helps to be a Python fan to get all the references).

I saw it in London with Tim Curry as the lead (not that it's a competition or anything). I could of done without the lady in the lake bit. Oh and your mother was a hamster.

Oh, yeah? Well I saw it on the MOON with the original Python cast!

(London is known for excellent Curry, btw)

You know, I never really found any curry. I was expecting them, but usually only found overpriced Italian and Middle Eastern places. I spent the whole time eating cheap pub food anyway.

I hate to make any "picture requests" here since the ones provided are so consistently great but does anyone have any new ones of the OB deconstruction/demolition?

It's a sad event---almost like a civic funeral---but it just feels like there should be an ongoing visual record of it and I can't think of a better place for that than here among fellow Miami lovers.

Any pics and/or links would be appreciated. I'm going to be down there again in April but it may be gone by then. Just want to say goodbye to the grand old girl, y'know?

The river walk is really looking good! The weather was perfect to walk from Bayside all along the bay front and then turn down the Miami River Greenway. The artwork along One Miami is excellent and the waterfront walkway at EPIC is very nice too.
For some pedestrians, EPIC allows for an excellent experience!

There is still a locked gate under the Brickell Bridge as of this weekend, but that will go soon and the connection with the riverwalk west of Brickell to the Baywalk will be complete.

By the way, that mega Yacht that is tied up at Epic is MadSummer. Quantum snapped a couple of photos in another thread. It's a newly launched 259 foot Yacht that is currently the most expensive charter Yacht in the Caribbean at 800,000 Euros per week plus expenses. There are a lot of people on it wearing flip flops.

Not this weekend. You meander a little bit at the Padilla sculpture, but you can walk right up to the dock and kiss MadSummer if you want to. Il Gabbiano is elevated from the riverwalk, but not really sealed off. The restaurant at Epic is open. No outside dining yet, but I'm sure it is coming soon when they are ready.
