How is the padlock thing going? Is it off yet? If not, how many days has the explorer man been working on it now?

Man I can't believe they haven't taken the lock and fence down yet!! Exploratus, I think if you really wanted it removed, it would have been done by now.

I'm just messin' with ya. But I think this is a good example as to why the Miami Circle park might still be in disarray. Serious lack of action on the gov't's part. So it might not be fair to put the blame squarely on Icon's people. As we can see, it has taken them over a month to do nothing so far about a fence/lock.

Well over a month and the padlock is still on the chain-link fence...

In other news about the working on the Miami River Greenway plan. Here are the minutes from the last Miami River Commission meeting:
Quote:
5) South Miami Avenue Bridge to Metrorail on the South Shore-Mr. Badia stated the City's hired engineer is currently scoping out this areas. Mr. Badia estimated the City will submit complete construction documents (LAP) to FDOT in 2010, then FDOT will have 6 months for FDOT to approve the construction document and development estimated to commence in 2011.
You read it correctly. Scoping today, construction to commence on a river walk in 2 years from now. 24 months, or about the same amount of time it takes to break ground and top off a 50 story skyscraper.
It is what it is...

Konnichiwa Exploratus-son. Good news to report, in a record setting 8 weeks, the door has been removed under the Brickell Bridge and people were enjoying the Greenway today.

2 months to remove a padlock! Love it!

Cranes and material have been delivered to the Miami Circle site (east of Brickell Bridge on the South bank of the Miami River) for the commencement of the seawall work. The work in progress is progressing.

I saw the crane the other day, didnt know what that was about. Is that going to include a pdestrian walkway, or is this phase only going to deal with the actual wall?

Thanks to some SSC poster, that guy was challanged to be a man of action!!!
It is a brave new world where sending a couple of e-mails amounts to a mini-crusade, but, be that as it may, there is some progress...they removed the door to the fence. Perhaps in another 6 or 12 months, FDOT will take the fence down entirely.
You are correct, that Hyatt gate needs to come down also. The MRC had their architects out evaluating the underside of the Miami Ave Bridge. It doesn't move quickly, but there is progress being made.

Glad that the funding continues, but they are calling it stimulus money?
Damn, 7 years ago at the Miami River Commission meetings, when we secured this funding we didn't call it stimulus money.

We? I didn't know they let desk clerks negotiate on funding issues.

Excellent! I love the base of Mint; great the way they made a natural flow into Ivy.

From the March 18th, 2010 Miami Today:

RIVER RESOLUTION: Looks like the word "port" is to reappear in the City of Miami's comprehensive plan in reference to the Miami River. Past administration pushed for years for what proponents called more development flexibility, removing the word "port" from the plan. Marine industry players viewed it as a bid for riverfront residences over industry operations. The state rejected the city's changes, but the city has persisted until now. A draft compromise is on the table, and commissioners are giving the administration and industry a month to work it out.
