That's why I wrote "highways", but if someone has a better idea, let's hear it.

I must drive that Highway 119 one day. I don't even need to fly.

That would result in an awful lot of similar-looking thread titles.

5, 6 and 7 from my proposal would make the forum a little diverse (not with a lot of similar-looking thread names).

What's the point of writing "Highways"/"Motorways"/etc in every thread title anyway? What else could one expect to find in a forum called "Highways & Autobahns"? Perhaps using the local language[s] of every country is enough. Therefore I prefer bogdymol's proposals 2 or 3

That's how it is in the railway subforum. We could invigorate them by keeping local expressions (but without country adjectives).

Not every thread is simply about "highways". There are threads like "Former trunk roads", "Motorway openings around the world", or this one. I'm also against writing just codes, there should be full names of countries written.

How about country name in english + highway/motorway name in local language.

If the thread is about something else than simply highways it should be written in english.

Just keep the names the way they are. It's easy to go by prefix and there's really no need to fix what isn't broke...

It looks unorganized and feels a bit embarrassing compared to the railway subforum.

Good idea. So you mean:

SLOVENIA | Avtoceste

What about country codes? I find it easier than reading the whole country. So perhaps:

[SLO] Slovenia | Avtoceste

That could work. As long as I get to keep easy browsing by country codes at the beginning of the title, which also makes it easy to see which threads are non-country threads.

I like both ideeas but if it's the second one we should drop the [ ].

I know, I was referring to the "country" threads, which make up about 90% of the forum and whose titles can be easily standardized

I'd totally go for this! Or maybe, instead of using the []:

SLO | Slovenia | Avtoceste

Having the brackets is what makes it easy to tell the difference between country threads and general thread. I'd rather they be kept that way.

Why even bother with highways/motorways/roads names? This is the Highways & Autobahns section, logically this subsection is about roads. My proposal is just with country codes and countries names, and since this is an international forum, then country names should be only in English.

LV | Latvia

SLO | Slovenia

RO | Romania
