I have to say the bus route that started my 35 craze is no longer my favo(u)rite one. Something happened, and another route has taken the title. Now introducing...

Zaragoza's bus route 41. It only runs thrice a hour, but thanks to it I know when is going to pass through a certain area.

I really don't know, whether it was caused by bad weather, or some air pressure unit or what, but I drove almost 40 km within Bratislava and honked almost 30 times due to someone cut in to my lane or did not give me the right of way.

Everybody seemed to be very distracted or what, e.g. there were two turning lanes in intersection and other driver blocked me off the lane three times by changing turning lanes in the middle of intersection.

Then some strange stink started flowing from my fans at one intersection, like plastics being just burnt or what. I was so distracted by this and it bothered me so much, that I confused... and now I feel totally ashamed... I confused the traffic lights and accelerated at wrong green light (it was for turning lane while I was in regular one) and figured it out in the middle of it only at moment, when other cars and trams from different directions started braking and honking at me.

Moreover it was not only ordinary intersection, it was one of the biggest and busiest intersections in Bratislava !

I still can not believe, that I passed it without accident or penalty. Finally, I was in service station and I have to buy new brakes which will cost about 400 €.
Why are your brakes 400€? That seems extremely high, unless you drive a Ferrari.

In Slovenia you can send a photo of yourself to the post and they will make valid stamps with you on them. I think it's available in some other countries as well.

Brakes are more than just the brake shoes themselves. I had a € 900 repair this summer and much of it went into the brakes.

I have been told that common brakes should be replaced every 75 000 km. My car has 127 000 km and brakes still have not been changed. The time has come.

Never heard this. In Italy cars must pass a MOT test after 4 years they're purchased, and since then, one every 2 years. Unless they result damaged, you don't have to change brakes.

It depends on how you drive. If you constantly brake late then you'll wear the brake pads down quicker and could also damage other parts due to excessive, heavy use. If you brake earlier and use your gears to help you you'll prolong the life of your brake pads and other brake parts.

There was a perfectly valid discussion going on in the Germany thread, and it has been deleted. May I ask why? I find this an insult to all posters who have contributed to this subject and unnecessary. This is one hell of a way to kill off a forum and a strong abuse of power. Censorship might be the word I'm looking for. I'm very angry.

Well, I suppose I didn't need to go off about American-bashing, but since the American-bashing itself is constant in certain areas of SSC....

And the discussion about the word Autobahn and so on - capitalized or not - seemed perfectly reasonable and barely off-topic.

On other forums, I've saved some of my posts in Word so that I can re-post the bits that seem reasonable. Might have to start doing that around here. Heavy-handed erasing is indeed rather insulting to people who are making an effort to contribute usefully to discussion, I think.

It was not so bad. I, as a neutral reader of the spell-thread found it pretty interesting, and didn't there's anything wrong about it. And I have no idea why was your answer to my question deleted (I've read it previously).

You have just confused "should" with "have to" I was talking about service lifetime. I don't have to change them at technical check if they are working properly. Basically, you are right.

I must admit that I am opposite extreme. When I was selling my first car this year, the serviceman at technical check noticed my clutch is seriously worn out and almost damaged. In first years of my driving I was possessed by slowing down by shifting down even at second and first gear . When there was no car behind me, I used to completely avoid using brakes, just shifting down. It just reminded me I have never changed brakes on my first car even it had 150 000 km driven as I sold it.

They were changed several times during filming of those 6 minutes - that is sure.

10 lanes in the peak hour direction, that's quite something. These are actually express lanes in the median of I-15. The southern segment has 2x6 free lanes and 2x2 express lanes, which apparently can be reconfigured from 6-2-2-6 to 6-3-1-6.

We don't see guided buses too often, do we? I haven't seen one either, or at least, I am not aware of.
