I hope mine is going to be a great one. The past few weeks has been like a rollercoaster, and ended up in a very unfortunate breakup. Christmas hasn't been good at all, but I hope the new year will be a better one.

Do what you gotta do, be happy, and in the words of the great Billy Joel: don't take no shit from anybody.

Likewise to you, yours, everyone and everyone's.

(This time tomorrow, I'll be finished with my move. Someone remind me never to do this in December again....)

I wish a happy and well travelled 2014 to everyone here! Luckily Chinese will cease to open expressways and railways for a couple months now.

This is quite strange, because "Dunavprevoz" has excelent new buses, mostly Mercedes and Setra.

Even new vehicles can catch fire. As a matter of fact many car fires igniting spontaneously are often recent model vehicles.

I remember that Ferrari had some problems with their new vehicles catching fire for apparently no reason.

In our bazaar economy this happens in case when someone wants to discredit certain brand.

E.g. A company close to government produce buses in Czech republic for public transport. Bratislava has tendered new buses for public transport and the tender were supposedly set up for that company to win. "Unfortunately" another polish bus producer has fulfilled all the conditions, offered lower prices and won. "Accidentally" few weeks after operation, two of 18 buses caught in fire. Responsible politicians have agreed, that buses of that polish company are not reliable at all and therefore the allow "right" company to win in following tenders Lot of European cities have purchased buses from that polish brand, and buses are completely reliable.

Well, I have no interest in discrediting Fiat, but my sister's 1993 Fiat Cinquecento did catch fire by itself, while parked and turned off.

Personal cars for individuals is something different than ordering tens of buses You can't compare the money in circulation.

Btw. I have driven Fiat once and had good feeling of it. But heard from different sources that it is not a good brand. Now I have German car and despite its reliability, the repairs are pretty much expensive. I had Japan car before and it was much better and cheaper as well.

My town wants to buy several new trams. The discussions have started and it seems that 2 companies are interested in selling the trams: a local company (yes, we build trams here), and a Polish company. When the Polish company declared it's interested in selling us trams, one of the local newspapers started to publish articles about the problems* that those trams have. Should I tell you that one of the stake holders of our local tram factory is the owner of that newspaper that published negative articles?

* It was later proved that those "problems" were actually not real problems, but generated by the old infrastructure (tram tracks). Of course that our local newspaper didn't come later with another article to tell the truth.

Nobody said that accidents don't happen. Just that sometimes it's not an accident, but an "accident".

my Punto was caught on fire too last year, but it was my fault. namely, originally Punto has miniature battery of 35 Ah. that's really miniature thing, but the slot for battery didn't allow larger one to be installed. of course, i have broken that slot, bought normaly sized battery of 45 Ah and it worked great. problem was that i haven't fastened that larger battery well enough, so it moved, terminals started to melt and wires were caught on fire. fortunately, fast reaction didn't cause whole car to be caught on fire.

This "winter" so far sucks in the Netherlands (if you like snow & ice). We had maybe three nights with temperatures at just below freezing, but most of the days it's +6 - +12 C. December was also quite sunny.

How's your winter?
