That's already in the bucketlist, I was thinking to go for that later in summer, I think a normal weekend should be enough for it. And I want to add the tripoint A/SLO/I to that trip, I saw there is a cable cart from Austria.
You can also hike from the Italian side, if you want, but plan a whole day for it. It's a long hike.

I don't think so. Doing this trip from Bratislava and back are probably around 1000 km and those curvy Alpine roads take a lot of time and you may want to park and step out your car to take pictures, watching the landscape, take a short walk, eat in a thypical Alpine place... You will need to spend a night in a place like Klagenfurt, Villach, Arnholdstein, Tarvisio, Kranjska Gora, etc...

Some areas in southern Austria may see up to 2 meters of fresh snow through the weekend.

Asfinag:

That is 180 cm / 6 feet between Friday night and Saturday afternoon. Insane!

Yeah, I've just checked the map and spending at least one night is necessary. It could be better for weekend :-)

@ cinxxx

In a free time you travel around Europe, you must have plenty of money and time. I suppose if you had stayed in Romania you wouldn't been payed as in Germany.

Today was a hell day in Vojvodina. Wind speed over 100 km/h, road traffic in chaos. Worst situation was on the Zrenjanin-Belgrade road. Army was engaged in rescuing people who where stuck on the roads:

The high winds are the worst. You don't even need a very large snow amount to get roads blocked by snow dunes. Salting the road doesn't help and most areas don't have enough snow plows to battle blowing snow effectively. I remember seeing such photos in Hungary one or two years ago.

By U.S. definition, a blizzard is not even a high snowfall event per se, but rather high winds in combination with snow.

I must admit that until today I ignored the existence of that castle, although is less than 1 hour driving from me.

I believe it needs to last a certain amount of time as well.
