I'm leaving on Friday for a vacation in Amsterdam, Paris, and the UK. Unfortunately, this time I'm doing little driving, only from London to Edinburgh. But I like to collect materials with road sign graphics when I travel, like the "Know Your Traffic Signs" booklet in the UK, for example. Can someone tell me if there's anything similar that would illustrate road signs (and not be too expensive) for either the Netherlands or France (and what it's called and where I could get it)? Thanks!

I am not sure whether I get your thoughts, but for the very basic and sufficient information on driving rules I use wikipedia.

Traffic signs are pretty much the same in all three countries. I would like to urge you to keep left unless overtaking in the UK, even if it seems that nobody else does. I generally find the British the worst drivers, and the French the best. The Dutch somewhere in the middle, it depends how high they are I suppose...

He seems to be looking for sign manuals for a collection, not to learn how to drive in Europe.

I may be mistaken....

No you're not. That's it exactly. Here's a pic of some of the materials I already have, from UK, Germany, and South Africa. I'm looking for something similar.

Today, I've decided to eat out in Chinese bistro. Almost peed my pants:

The side dish (or food) couscous is spelled "kuskus" in Slovak language. And the word "kus" itself means "piece". But the English translation of "kuskus" in menu was not "couscous" but "piecepiece"

I love those Chinese bistros
Once I've been in the one, which displays the foods with numbers on the panel above the cash desk (like McD's). The vendors were supposed to know only numbers in Slovak language and prepared the dishes according to the number, the customer had told. There stood a couple in front of me in line and the woman were looking at the panel and choosing the meal. Perhaps, she did not find what she was looking for so asked the vendor:
- "Do you have a fried cheese?"
- "What...?" responded the vendor.
- "F-r-i-e-d Ch-e-e-s-e. Fried cheese, which number is that?"
and the vendor responded in the most serious tone he could:
- "I am sorry lady, we don't offer any which number"

No roads between magadan and Petropavlovsk-Kamtsjatski?

and it's not the furthermost.
You can drive between Magadan and Cape city

Wait, the World Cup starts tomorrow??

Shit, we only have to care about soccer for one month every four years, so we need more time to work up to it. (The fact that the Phillies have been completely pathetic over the last week will help...)

Allez les Belges ! Except when you're playing us, if it comes to that. But how does one say "Allez les Belges !" in Dutch?

EDIT: I see it's next week. Someone on another forum said "Friday" and I took it as meaning tomorrow. Well, that's a relief.
But still, my question remains.

I remember at the last Europe cup we were banned from talking about football on this thread. Right, Chris?

I didnt know that google would suggest roads through Africa.

So this would be my planned roadtrip for this summer. There's a lot of roadwork going on in sweden btw. That could be a problem.

Notice how Cape Town is further away from e.g. Paris than Magadan is, although it looks much closer. Blame the Mercator projection.

But how does one say "Allez les Belges !" ? And don't tell me it's "Oranje boven."

BTW, a guy at work, with no connection to the Netherlands that I know of, was wearing a sort of warm-up jacket with orange trim and "Nederland" on it a few weeks ago. I said, "Dutch soccer team?" He said yes, he's "a big fan of the Orange."

The Dutch are the best party makers at these events. Hup Belgie would be the best translation.

Um... Why are you cheering the Belgians? According to Nigel Farage MEP it's a non-country.

Since when do I take my cues from Nigel Farage?

Who'm I supposed to root for - France?
