Sweden was so/so, but I couldn't understand a word of Danish, it sounds like mumbling to me. Even making out single words is difficult.
Someone (I hope it was a Dane) once joked that Danish isn't a language, but a disease of the throat.

Apologies to any Danes.

I tried to learn it, and Swedish, myself a couple of decades ago.

Heavy hailstorms in Northern France, Belgium, The Netherlands and Western-Germany the last 2 days and today.

How do you protect your car from the hail? Like this of course!

It seems, the barking problem of my dog of 4 years has been solved. I've got problem with my dog since I moved to our apartment with my fiancee. She was barking (the dog) when was alone and disturbed the neighbours. We have tried many things to stop her barking, but nothing worked out.

Today I bought a "barking-control device" based on a spray attached to collar that is disgusting for dogs. When the dog barks, the spray comes out to dog's face. Since my dog is really stubborn I did not believe it may work.

So I put the collar on my dog's neck, turned the spray on, started to record the sound of the room, and left the apartment for 2 hours. Came back, checked the sound waves and played it. It took her four barks to realize how the collar works and remained silent (she used to bark almost 200 times before).

Few minutes ago, we came back from short (1 hour long) walk leaving the dog home alone. Having opened the doors and welcoming the dog, I realized I had forgot to turn the collar on. But according to sound waves recorded during our walk, the placebo effect worked as well

I am not a fan of electric shocks, but annoying spray was the last chance how to learn our dog to behave and it should not be taken as a punishment. She also get a tasty treat for very good behaviour.

I am a great handball fan and Denmark is one of the greatest powers of female handball (and was definitive the greatest one in the 2000's) so in order to understand Danish press I started to learn Danish.
The very first sentence in the text book had a length of approximately 15 syllables. There was a casette (younger people may not know what it was, they shall imagine an iPod having some old technology), too. I started to listen it and the guy read this sentence but what he said had only 6 syllables.
It was the very moment when I stopped learning Danish :-)

That is Dutch. Danish is something much more severe. Kind of a mixture of an old and sick cat and the bagpipes? :-)

In the written Danish, there are a lot of consonants. They seem to vanish somewhere in the spoken language.

Here many vending machines accept Thai 10 baht coins (0,23€) as 2€!

Okay, the same co-worker who doesn't know what side of the road to drive on (and not just because she was born in a left-hand-drive country) just felt the need to e-mail several of us this:

That said, USA USA USA! (And, België/Belgique!)
