Schweinsteiger? "Pig-climber"?

Unrelated - that guy in the Wall Street Journal neglected to mention that the Dutch were the first foreign country to recognize the U.S. as independent.

Dus,

PS to Verso: Going Dutch is when two or more people go out (to eat, say) and everyone pays for their own share.

So Rolf Harris is jailed for nearly 6 years. Bit of a shock really. I grew up with him in my childhood years. Always looked up to him.... Here a clip of his songs....

More Austrian. Tight gits! Back in Holland or England we'd give rounds. Not here. If you ask a friend for a cigarette, you'll get one, but they demand one back when you've got some yourself. When offering a drink they even cause a problem, and insists they pay for themselves. You have to slap them and tell them to shut the **** up and accept that drink! Same in Germany. Not in Holland or England, where nothing is a problem when going out...

For some reason, Google Maps in Venice became a lot less reliable in the last 2 years. There are loads of mistakes and it basically has a very hard time finding the addresses.

I see that Venice is definitely not an easy city, but the service worsened a lot, unfortunately.

On the other hand, we got Streetview

The reasson for population growing up so much in New York is probably because of immigrants.

Amusing. But "going Dutch" really is an expression. Maybe only over here....

Yes, there is a considerable domestic net migration out of New York state. The difference is made up by immigration from other countries, most of whom settle in and around New York City. Most domestic migrants go south, to Florida, or the Carolinas.

Domestic migration patterns in the U.S. are interesting. Many people focus on population growth alone, but domestic migration (moving within the country) shows considerably different trends. For example, California is growing substantially, yet it has a net outward domestic migration for 20 years now. The amount of people leaving California for another U.S. state is smaller than the amount of people moving to California from another country, but it shows that California is losing some of its appeal to non-immigrants.

After a century of strong westward migration to California, there is an outward domestic migration from California since the 1990s, mostly to states like Washington, Arizona, Texas and the Carolinas. The cost of living is a major factor in that trend.

Geez, some French street actor has just chosen me to act in front of a large crowd in my neighbourhood. Hopefully no one recognized me.

You'll be alright. When it comes to the French and street entertainment you'll be ok. They know what they're doing!

I once was at the circus and they picked me up from the public to help them with their show on the stage.

Well, four guys (me included) sat down on chairs and lied down on each other's knees. Then the French guy removed the chairs, so we had to support ourselves with our legs. It was hilarious.

Haha, we've done this many times during school time. It was our entertainment during breaks.

He chose me as the first one to lie down on another guy's knees. I found it so ridiculous that I wasn't sure what to do, so I felt a little embarrassed.

Must be. The "upstate" New York area (the part that is not NYC) is so empty and stagnant, at least in appearance.

Note how California population explodes as soon as air conditioning (klima) for houses is invented
