Yesterday I experienced what happens when you enter and exit a motorway at the same toll barrier...

I left Torino for Brescia, using A4, only to realize after 50 km that I forgot something important. Not wanting to leave motorway, I took A26/A4 to Vercelli, A26 north, the A4 back to Torino, closing the circle.

As soon as I put my ticket into the toll machine, the voice of an operator told me "what did you do? You made a U-turn on the motorway?!? You broke the highway code"
"No sir, I did not. I made a full circle on A4, A26/A4, A26 and back on A4"
"I see. Here I can't make you pay anything, but in the next few days you need to go to our central offices, where you must pay something. Your license plate has been recorded"

I had problems paying with my Via-card a few times. Kept on pressing the button for assistance, but only got responses in Italian which I don't understand. After a while the barrier opened and a card came out of the machine with my (UK) registration on it. I may had to pay something, but I never did, they never bothered me.

Next time just get out at the previous or next exit. Some time ago I thought about entering the E76/A11 at Lucca East, then going to E35/A1 to E33/A15 to E80/A12 back to E76/A11 and exit at Lucca West, which itself is a kilometer away from Lucca East . 414 kilometers and I believe the toll would cost a few eurocents.

Edit: How this ended up in the Roadside Rest Area? I swear I posted this to the Italian autostrade thread...

It's one of those days where you would like to have airconditioning.

That's normal (well, a bit above, depending what part of the map you're looking at) for July here.

Great concept, air conditioning!

Up to 34 C in the Netherlands? Wow!

34 C in Rhodes, Greece now... We are expecting no more than 35 C in some regions today. The coolest village of Greece (Seli) won't exceed 19 C today.

It was ~30°C in Ljubljana yesterday (like today). I was waiting for a bus in shade, and there was an Indian nearby waiting for the same bus, but he was walking around on sun with a sweater and long trousers (jeans).

i break the law in such situations making the U-turn, but at exit, before toll booths, and then take first nearest exit. frankly, i find that violation less dangerous than normal left turn at normal 1+1 road.

i think that in HR in such situation they treat you like losing the ticket with double longest possible route.

http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/AUXX0193 - looks reasonable to me, if a touch damp. :-)

Yours is all but accurate. It says it's partly cloudy, but there's not a cloud in the sky, as you can see on the webcam. And the predictions for the coming days are not what it says on mine - including the local forecast. It'll cool off a little the day after tomorrow, only for the temperatures to soar again later in the week. It very rarely gets damp over here. Alpine climates doesn't allow it.

Yes, sir.

I tried Mayrhofen-Zillertal, out of curiosity, and it's even worse: http://www.weather.com/weather/today/685:11

I'm surprised the Weather Channel would be that far off on current conditions. Don't know where they get their information for Austria, though.
