That's 5, and everyone has to walk to get to a bus/train station or wherever (usually not with a broken leg though).

I think we're counting different modes of transportation. So yours is just bus, plane, S-Bahn, train. Sorry.

And S-Bahn and metro are pretty much trains.

I've done Bike -> Car -> Bus -> Plane -> Train -> Car, so 5 different means of transportation, or 8 counting most changes Car -> Train -> Train -> Train -> Plane -> Plane -> Train -> Train -> Car.

Now I remembered I'd used 8 different means of transportation in 2010 in 24 hours (wasn't the same day). First plane to Hong Kong, then escalator, elevator and underground at the airport, taxi to the city, funicular to Victoria Peak, sightseeing bus, and boat around Victoria Harbour. I think that's it.

Well, once I went to shopping mall and used elevator > bus > tram > elevator > escalator > escalator > escalator > escalator..... .... > elevator > escalator > escalator > tram > bus > elevator.

Escalators and elevators? Unless they get you out of the same fricking building, they don't count.

actually, there are few places where escalators help in public transportation. i will not mention underground entrances, doesn't have sense, but for instance in Barcelona when you climb from Placa Espanya to Olympic stadium there is a cluster of escalators that helps a lot.

I don't think there are more than 5 means of transportation, if you count trains and s-bahns and metros as one.
