Yeah, I was in Bavaria (better; Bayern) a few years ago and the army had to help to clean the roofs of houses because 3 meters of snow caused some roofs to collapse. Snow is nice, but too much of it can be disastrous.

Years ago when I was in Germany we drove from Baden-Württemberg toward München and it was funny to see the snow depth grow the further south we went- a bit counterintuitive.

I think it was 2006, the year that we had 15 cm in March. It stayed about a week before it disappeared. Most snow we get here melts away immediately

I was once walking on 4 m deep snow. Imagine, how dangerous suddenly looks near some fir trees, because there was almost no snow under it. If you slip under the tree, you have great difficulties to come back on the ground.

I just drove behind this baby.

It's a Dodge Ram Laramie. Didn't know they sell these monsters in NL.

I finally made a decent driving video. I'll probably cut it into two parts; the first being Anzac Bridge/Western Distributor/Harbour Bridge and the second being Warringah Freeway/Gore Hill Freeway/Lane Cove Tunnel, in order to fit it on YouTube.

What do you think of this, guys? I wouldn't be surprised if we'd really see this in Poland in a couple of months

Does anybody know of a good video editing program for Linux? I've tried Kino and Open Movie Editor; Kino speeds up every video I import so that it runs for just a few seconds for some reason, and Open Movie Editor is great at editing but won't export audio for some reason, and is also quite tricky to configure export formats with. I don't really need it urgently, but I'd like to be able to set driving videos to music instead of just silence.

It seems the camera I use only takes up to 2 GB SD cards, which means that if I get a bigger card then when I want to make a video of the M4 motorway, I'll be able to increase the resolution to 640x480 or the frame rate to 30 frames per second, but not both. Which do you guys think is more important for a driving video, resolution or frame rate?

My Canon Powershot A530 gets 20 fps and with 2 GB I can record about 48 minutes. However, my Canon S2000 gets 25 fps and can only record about 16 minutes. (both at 640x480).

Chris, you should know. What's the max video resolution available on youtube in HQ? I'm going to make some movies soon and I want to get the best of it. My camera supports these settings:

1280x720 @ 30 fps
848x480 @ 30 fps
640x480 @ 30 fps

Any suggestions?

P.S. I don't worry about card volume, as it's 8 GB.

1280x720 at 30 fps is required resolution for HD video on youtube.

About volume: many HD photo-cameras are limited with the filesize limit of 2 GB, even if memory cards have greater capacity. DSLR Nikon D90 can have only about 5 min long HD videoclip because of that.
