Road UK has always* liked to and I guess this time he poked to hard (which is also what she said)...

* well, at least since I've been here

edit: also, is it just me or is the User Control Panel seriously broken atm? It's still showing Penn's reaction as last one and it won't go away. If I refresh it just popsup on the user CP again...

Saw lots of new cars on the M4 yesterday (64 regs & a couple of 15 - in the UK the first couple of months of a year has the year before's number) , I wonder if there's been an upturn in car sales.

I've seen a couple of new Mondeos now, quite nice I think. I also saw something I didn't recognise ciming yp behind me, when it overtook me I saw it was a Pulsar.

How much of any of this is "essential"?

But the whole thing smacks of favoritism. Kiss the right you-know-whats and you can get away with anything.

And, quite frankly, I really think "insulting members" ought to be a less significant offense than rampant bigotry. But apparently, that's not the case.

Bigotry is harder to define. Insults are quite straightforward.

I've read about that. It's similar to a category 5 hurricane strength.

not to be completely off topic - the strongest strokes are usually noted in the area of A1 between tunnel Sveti Rok and Maslenica. in the area just south of the tunnel has been noted the strongest stroke in the country ever - 307 km/h (so we still don't have record today)

It must be dangerous, especially if you have small (light) car and drive out from tunnel (or finish overtaking manoeuvre of a lorry).

you cannot do it because motorway is closed in such occasions

but you can feel it in the cities too. for instance, this poor guy

as far as i saw, there were only 2 trucks overturned on the roads today

What creates these >200km/h wind gusts?

Can't be vortexes (tornadoes), right?

It sounded weird even to me. I already knew it was gust, not stroke. Some days ago, a 230 km/h gust toppled an aerogenerator (or it is windmill? ) in my region.

Does anyone here know why the clinched highways website doesn't get updated anymore?

Tornadoes predominantly occur on flat plains where is no elevation or at least the elevation is in longitudinal direction (Cordilleras). That setup allows air flows with different temperature (from polar areas as well as from subtropical ones) to mix, which creates perfect conditions to develop a tornado.

There are no such conditions in Europe. However, tornadoes sometimes occur (I think the most tornadoish country in Europe is Hungary), but with the strength of a dust devil comparing to tornadoes in US.
