Heck, the New York Philharmonic visited North Korea in 2008. They even played the US anthem there .

I've just seen a document about black holes. It is amazing that something like that even exists. I don't think it is beyond the physics we know. It is just part of our physics that remain unexplored. That is scary.

I'm going to London by plane in August, and I plan to rent a car for a day. What are the cheapest/best rental services?

Now that was hot: My hometown reached a max of 42.1C (107.8F) today. Zaragoza was even hotter, they got an all-time record of 44.5C (112.1F).

Last week was 32 - 37 C, this morning it was just 13C. A welcome relief though.

12C and heavy drizzle. A typical English summers day.

Today the expected max in my hometown is 'only' 33C. Southwest winds, which were bringing all that heat, turned to Northwest (the well-known cierzo) just after the all-time maxima were reached and now provide a relief from those really hot days.

CNGL, what is your favorite Spanish metro area if you should pick on to relocate?

I'd rather relocate to North Korea.

It is. Physics we know can describe (almost) everything up to the event horizon. What lies inside is, by definition, impossible to observe but we have a pretty clear idea of it. Singularity is something we can't describe at all, though.

On weather subject: my work is almost excusively indoors, but maybe once every year I have to work outdoors. Yesterday, hottest day ever, I was outside mounting 8 weather stations at our campus. Temperature reached 34 C, with 66% humidity.

Yesterday Zaragoza hit an all-time record max of 44.2C, today the max was... 29.2C. Now that is a relief. My hometown was hotter despite being some 300 meters higher.
