There aren't many old cars around anyway.

It's an infringement of my right to not breathe shit whenever I walk downtown.
If you want to be free to drive a vehicle even inside your house, get a damn bicycle.
Amazing. People is still convinced, after 70 years, that freedom means "do whatever you want"...

Foo.

The bans are not the issue but every country implementing then differently and according to clumsy procedures. For a foreigner, buying the German sticker is rather a complicated process, like all German processes.

Why in the heck a sticker is needed? Every gas-driven car built since 1993 qualifies the green sticker. The same applies to diesel-driven ones since 2006. The date of the production of a vehicle is printed in the car documents. In case on uncertainty, the police or whatever can check the papers.

As a matter of fact, not really. I walked into TÜV and, 10 minutes and 5 euro later, I had my Plakette.

(..)
You can order one on-line, not even visiting Germany. Filling the form takes about 3 minutes, waiting for the sticker less than a week.

Looking to escape the cold European weather? Larkana, Pakistan may be the place to be.

How do you prefer to say, 'Slovak' or 'Slovakian'? I know both are correct, but 'Slovakian' doesn't sound ok to me.

Dnipropetrovsk (Ukraine's third largest city) is now renamed Dnipro.

According to my native english teacher slovak is the right one. Slovakian is not incorrect thought.

I would describe a person from Slovakia as a Slovak but an object or a product as being Slovakian.

An article by The Guardian critical of cruise ship pollution: http://www.theguardian.com/environme...lution-problem
But marine pollution analysts in Germany and Brussels said that such a large ship would probably burn at least 150 tonnes of fuel a day, and emit more sulphur than several million cars, more NO2 gas than all the traffic passing through a medium-sized town and more particulate emissions than thousands of London buses.

“These ships burn as much fuel as whole towns. They use a lot more power than container ships and even when they burn low sulphur fuel, it’s 100 times worse than road diesel.”

Emissions from a large cruise ship compared to the equivalent numbers of cars
* CO2: 83,678 cars
* NOx: 421,153 cars
* Particle emissions: 1,050,000 cars
* Sulphur Dioxide: 376,000,000 cars
The largest cruise ship called in Rotterdam today, and there is some criticism that a ship emitting as much NOx as 400,000 cars is allowed to dock while there is an environmental zone to ban a few thousand older cars...

Not to mention that a single cruise ship emits as much sulphur dioxide as all cars in Europe combined.

You rarely hear environmentalists complaning about cruise ships.
I'm all for environmental preservation, but it seems that many environmentalists prefer emotional arguments, rather than scientific ones. Driving private cars is often described as the worst possible thing to do, while other serious sources of pollution don't get the same criticism.

In real life, electronic toll collection was first introduced in Bergen, Norway in 1986, and well into the 21th century many countries still struggle to implement it.

I wonder why more ships don't use sails anymore, as a kind of hybrid
With GPS and satellite weather mapping it would seem easy to kind of optimise the ship to catch the wind at the best point, and when wind is unfavorable, fold in sails and steam ahead on diesel instead of tacking.

Even tacking would seem to be a lot easier and more efficient than it used to be.
You'd lose some capacity sure, but it is easy to upscale ship size...

I know Bunker fuel is cheap but its not as cheap as free wind
