You mean b/c they're going back to Turkey? (I doubt the lane is reserved for Turkish trucks) So besides Turkey you can also go to EU (as if you aren't there already ), the lane is reserved for trucks, but what do they mean with "extra"? Going out (of the port)? Why is Turkey so important, btw? Slovenia is much closer, f.e.

Or probably the lane is reserved (extra) for Turkish and EU trucks.

These all trucks (maybe not all, but 96%) are all from Turkey. They all use the ferry to reach Trieste and then go back. For them it's much cheaper to reach Central Europe by a ferry than going by ground through Balkans.

You're right, there are many Turkish trucks driving on the Trieste bypass. Last time I almost crashed in one, which got stuck on the narrow bypass going up with broken engine. He didn't even start properly, and the engine already broke.

Great! I've considered civil engineering, but I've chosen for mechanical engineering instead. Too much law in civil engineering

In 2004... Long time ago.

I work in traffic engineering nonetheless.. Traffic engineering is a very wide, yet unknown job area. You only need a very small portion of what they teach you in college. Especially the math they teach you is way too difficult, and you only need it if you go into civil engineering or those technical jobs.
