I installed a WLAN network in my home Now I can access internet on my laptop without having to switch the LAN cables every time.

I had to update it, there were 56 updates, which took 3.5 hours to install Having Windows Vista on a budget laptop is not a good idea

The Dutch are known for moaning about people speeding in their streets.

Not rarely, the local government want to have some objective stats for that issue as a factual backup.

I had to do one a while a go, it was a local, narrow, one-way street with a Vmax of 30 km/h.

I counted there for a representative week, and it turned out the AADT was a stunning 80, and the V85 (Speed that 85% of the motorists does not exceed) was 28 km/h. So 85% of those 80 vehicles on average did not exceed 28 km/h.

In other words, there is absolutely nothing going on there As long as the V85 does not exceed the Vmax by 10 - 15 km/h, there's no big deal.

I have conducted several of these throughout the last 2 years, and often saw similar results. Especially in urban areas, speeding is grossly overestimated by local residents.

The most cases of speeding are found on certain 60 km/h roads. I have seen V85 numbers that were in the upper 80's to lower 90's, meaning there is a significant amount of traffic seriously not obeying the speed limit. That can mean two things; the speed limit is too low, or people do not care about the speed limit. Sadly enough, it's usually the first one...

The one who complain are usually the old people, all day at home and nothing smarter to do. So they watch the road all day and when one or two are a little bit faster they start telling around how everyone is speeding.

uf, i think that here nobody cares about any of those 30 km/h limits. 40 maybe just around schools, 50 could allready have nice number of places with this V85 thing

Don't forget many Dutch residential streets are made for 30 km/h. They have a brick pavement, children playing on the sidewalks (sometimes in the street), and lots and lots of speed bumps. Most residential areas are not likely to see much traffic that exceeds 35 - 40 km/h.

However, there is a large gray area, the connector streets that are paved with asphalt, are wide, usually also bus routes, and see higher traffic volumes. 50 is a bit too fast on them, but 30 is certainly too slow.

American neighbourhoods are the opposite. They are very wide, with asphalt, no speed bumps and usually speed limits of 25 miles/h. I didn't find them unsafe for children or anyone.

American homes often have a huge front lawn, while Dutch homes usually have very small front lawn, and a larger back yard.

Dutch police took a tractor off the A7 motorway. It was driven by an 81-year old grandpa at 10 km/h.
