satellite images and the road layers are not exactly the same though

I do think Google should focus somewhat more on Europe, especially eastern and southeastern Europe.

I'd like to see useful topographic maps incorporated into Google Maps as well, instead of the very vague Terrain maps. At least in the US this shouldn't be a problem.

Poland and the Baltics are somewhat better covered on Google Earth now, they at least have a base imagery. (updated today)

edit: Sudan, Algeria, Tunisia and India got new imagery too.

The most recent I found so far is Mumbai: 12 october 2009!

Masked speed trap in Lublin, Poland posing as a garbage can. In one weekend it made 1300 pictures and earned 100.000$ worth of fines for the city authorities.

we have had them for years. If you see a container along the road in the Netherlands in an unusual place (not near homes, outside city limits etc.) slow down, because it's a speed trap.

Let's hope this speeds up the construction of S12/S17

Is this covert contraption legal?

I was under the impression that speed cameras had to be clearly identified and placed in areas where there is solid evidence of persistent speeding. Otherwise it resembles that favourite old trick that policemen indulge in, whereby they hide behind some bushes and jump out with their portable speed-gun and slap on a fine (+points) because you went 1 km/h over the limit.

I hope someone 'accidentally' knocks this bin over ... oops ... I am such a bad citizen for saying this.
Someone report me to the police immediately.
However, in court I will argue that my human right are being violated by the presence of this ... machine.

Speed camera in Veszprém captured 1500 vehicles at an intersection, because it was too sensitive, and photographed vehicles when they were in sight when the lights turned yellow. I believe I've read somewhere that it was switched off.

Fine was 100000 HUF in each case, totalling in 150 million HUF - 800000 USD between 2008 june and august.

From daily 40-50 caese, driver started to behave, and lowered to 1-2...Veszprém is a city of 60000.

Photobucket sucks anyway. I see many photosets going offline (hotlinked) due to bandwidth, especially in the busier forums like the Polish ones, within 1 or 2 days of publication.
