Why? My name is Serbian, although I think it's actually more popular here than in Serbia.

How can anyone afford to own a car in NL?
Just to put the car on the road costs more money than I spend in a year on car maintenance.
Those punitive taxes are nothing short of financial haemorrhage.

Rockslide in Tennessee. They had just removed the boulders from an earlier rockslide and cleared the site out, and then another part of the mountain came down:

....Audi is not for "human" in Denmark. It is only a wishfull thinking. All those taxes and so on...! A3 1.6 3 doors S tronic costs 328.298DKK-43.773€. This is a basic modell.
Audi S8 Limousine 5.2 FSI V10 quattro 4-doors tiptronic 2.209.796,DKK
294.639,46€ unbeliveable!!!

Cool commentary.

Well, most people find a way since mobility is a basic need, they just adjust the household budget to it. However, the Netherlands does have a relatively low car ownership compared to Germany, France or Japan.

Hmm...being in the Netherlands I noticed remarkable number of classic cars there, I would even say every second household have well preserved Citroen Ds or older MB. Sunday was just a show day, 1000-s of classic vehicle owners went on the road to have a drive.
Is the classic Tax and Insurance much lower to a normal one?
I know older vehicles are astonishingly expensive in NL.

25 year old cars and older used to be exempt from road tax, however, I believe things have changed, since many people kept old wrecks from 1983 as cheap cars. Ironically enough, GreenLeft party leader Halsema used to have such a 1980's diesel Mercedes.

Well, its exhaust gases may not be of roses and spring breeze, but scraping it and building a new car harms the environment even more. That's why I hate guys owning Priuses and talking how 'ecological' they are. I like the car itself, hybrids are cool, cheap(er) in the cities and they push forward the technological development (yes, electric car is the future), but surely producing 100kg Lithium-ion battery is anything but tree-friendly.

And I am sure that considering the purchasing power buying and owning a car in the Netherlands or even Denmark is cheaper than in Central/Eastern Europe.
