Britain seems to have a lot of slip roads that go on for quite some time with a "tiger tail" between the on ramp lane and the main lanes. That setup will certainly give the driver a lot of time to get up to speed.

the longest acceleration/deceleration lanes i have seen are in Austria.

one more interesting thing i have noticed - Italy used to have something similar to "taper", but they have turned onto german style

The first example is called a "taper". The second one is a regular acceleration/deceleration lane. I prefer the latter in situation where you enter the freeway, but I don't really mind the exiting situation, as long as the offramp is long enough to decelerate.

The Netherlands is sometimes a bit over the top with this; a rural exit with first a 300 m decelerating lane, then becoming a 500 m ramp before you hit the intersection.
Those picture both would assume that we're driving on the left (i.e. in UK or Ireland).

About your example, is this really the intended use of such an exit?

Because it seems kinda dangerous to just cut from the right lane across the left lane into the exit.

Of course not. You're supposed to exit from the left lane. The second lane on the ramp is added once you're off the motorway.

in Switzerland there are a few exits 2 straight to 2 to the side.

and they are all 2 lanes and on the right side (of course) (info for zwolle: Highway Nr. 1)

This is absolutely correct. Still the idea that one lane becomes two is a little odd.

Chris, in Dutch do you pronounce "w" like a "v" and vice-versa like in German?

"w" is just "w" like in "what" or "west" in Dutch.

When we only say "w" (the letter), we say it like "wéé", and not "double u" in English or "double v" in French
