The photo of the bridge is really good, I think. The one with the Katyn monument should have the same amount of photo in each side, a bit more centred if you see what I mean, like directly from one of those diamonds, but it is still a very good photo.

I dno't know, which camera Nexis has, but on my Panasonic there is a posibility to use guides - horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines, which help me to compose pictures in urban areas, like straight streets, monumental buildings, interior of churches, statues and plazas. I get much better results.

Yes. I have yet to find statistics on the overall car fleet of Lithuania, but these are the most sold car brands in 2008:

The same statistics could be in Latvia. German vehicles are the strongest for our roads.

You make it sound as if your roads are a challenge to vehicles. Is it really that bad?

Main roads are usually adequate to good, but many back roads are still unpaved (especially in Latvia), just gravel roads.

That said, the Baltic countries still have one of the largest networks of paved roads relative to population (Estonia has about 6 times more paved roads per inhabitant than the Netherlands).

That seems a lot. I thought The Netherlands already had a very high density of paved roads.

The density of the road network in the Netherlands is very high, but you also have to take into account the Netherlands is one of the most densely populated countries in the world, hence a relatively low mileage of paved roads per capita. Estonia has a very large proportion of their road system with very low traffic volumes, while Dutch roads receive much more traffic on average.

For example it's hard to find a Dutch motorway with less than 40.000 vehicles per day, while 40.000 is something you won't find anywhere in Estonia.

Absolutely (including myself). Audi Quattro is a dream car for many Lithuanians. And that's not without a reason. In wintertime weather may get very nasty and it really helps in such conditions.

In the more recent time Toyota Land Cruiser has became extremely popular as well.

Is Skoda and Kia banned in Lithuania? :-O Those are pretty cheap cars so one would await it will have good sells, better than Lexus or Rover.

Not as bad as it sounds, it's a very popular saying here. Of course, we don't have all roads in perfect condition, people see a lot of VW's, Audi's, Opel's on the streets and they joke about it, that's all.

These are second hand cars. But I think it indicates the situation quite accurately because most cars sold in Lithuania are second-hand anyway. I know very few people who have bought a new car even if they could afford it.

So all in all Škoda ir quite popular. It's in 7th position.

Another interesting trend is Subaru. I haven't seen as many Subarus elsewhere in Europe as in Lithuania. From what I have heard they are actually excellent cars.

Subaru's are usually 4WD's. They are very popular in Switzerland.
