I have never been a fan of Dutch architecture (forgive me those who think that Amsterdam is a beautiful city... it' beautiful but in other ways than architectural. ) but that is just over the top even for NL

At least your motorways stayed intact. This night A1 was completely closed because of flood and many other part were partially closed, also with some exits.

Currently I'm resting a bit after a long night, water was flowing from everywhere, even in the middle of the house - inside from the ground. Driving anywhere means being very cautious because of large ponds and currents on local and regional roads.

Do Dutchmen or Flemish (is this the correct word for people from Flanders?) from various parts of the country/countries often have problems understanding each other?
For me, this was understandable without the subs, but some dutch people are having more problems to understand flemish. When people start talking in dialect, there can be quite some differences. Normally speaking flemish people can use some different words or expressions which we don't use (anymore), but we mostly understand what he/she means.

No panic, no bigger damage was done to our house. Others suffered much more.

I was wondering if there is some natural disaster in your country, how many people grumble about "inefficient and slow firemen and other workers" (which are actually doing their job very hard and much better than they are paid for), but they don't do anything themselves? Yesterday I was pissed about those lazy bastards and those stupid journalists are usually picking such people for interview on main news.

During this summer floodings in Romania, at least one firemen lost his house while he was somewhere else helping the ones in need. Also, 3 firemen lost their cars during the floodings because they parked them near where they had to help others (so this means that they came with their personal cars not with the official ones). The good thing for them is that a TV station gave them 3 cars they didn't use anymore.

Another fact is that at almost any main event that has to do with firemen (floodings, fires etc) people complain about the fact that they came very late, but if you take a look at the Romanian fire trucks you will se that some of them are more than 30 years old and their cruising speed is about 50 km/h.

Now compare them with this one:

An extensive mud slide resulting from the flooding heavily damaged some 20 homes and a new road in Nizna Mysla in eastern Slovakia, the TA3 news channel reported. The station aired images of new houses with severely cracked walls.

And the first time Ljubljana was flooded since 1926, if I'm correct. I drove through southern Ljubljana today and it looks like a dump. People are throwing out furniture and everything, because it's useless. Thank god I don't live in southern Lj. and my grandma doesn't live there any more. I can actually see her previous house on one of the pics... flooded, of course.
