I didn't see the 1999 eclipse enough because I had lost my eclipse googles. But saw the March 2006 eclipse during school and the darkness of the eclipse caused to turn street lights on.

Also, I don't even know there's a partly eclipse today so I won't write anymore about this.

.
well of course it caused lights turning on because it was total eclipse in Antalya area! my reaction was refered to your claiming that you had a second of dark today, which cannot be.

We even have street lights that run only during the day

Although I was only 10 years old in 1999 I can remember the total eclipse. It was almost dark (like a very late afternoon). I saw it on a field near my town and I can remember that there were some cows that sit down and tried to sleep when it was the "total part".

It is because people from maintenance set the time when street lights turn each week for example.. so it means sometimes when it is really dark because of storm or whatever, street lights are turned off cos they turn on in a time when it is needed during "normal" weather.

I also rembre it a bit and I was even younger. But it wasn't so dark in Slovakia if I am sure.

i remember it was very nice day and temperature had fallen for 2-3°C when it reached maximum. i wanted to go with my girlfrien to Siófok, Hungary where was full eclipse, but my parents didn't want to hear about it

Oh, we could meet there years before SSC and discuss about some crazy plans to make a motorway Zagreb-Split.

On today's eclipse, nothing special, here it could be seen like this:

At least I saw an amazing sunrise eclipse of 30th May 2003, which was probably way better than today's.

Thanks God these crazy plans became true and now here is motorway from my home town all the way down to the Spilt and even to Istria and it is possible to reach sunny beaches around Rovinj in 5-6 hrs from Bratislava and then go to Konzum and buy some Slanac and piće s okusom naranča.

Take a breath..

Wait until 3rd September 2081, totality will go right through Bjelovar. Only 80 years 9 months to go ...

Was Hungary too exotic? You could've gone to brotherly Slovenia.

I wanted to wrote the same thing but I didn't want to start flame wars.

Btw, I think that some(many)times Hungary looks more exotic (in the sense we normally use it ) than Northern Croatia/Slovenia. I have the same feeling with southern Slovakia.

Hm, maybe some small chance for seeing it live.

Additional minute and a half of totality totally deserves going into Hungary for one additional hour of driving.

Hmm 2081, I'll be 94 years old then. Possible but improbable.

103 for me. But thank god, world is small and is getting smaller every year.

12th August 2026 will be in Spain (for Europe) and August after in Mediterranean part of Africa. So to know, when and where to go for summer holidays.

Traitor. But you were probably sooner in Hungary, as there was a long traffic jam to NE Slovenia.
