The bus driver of Gare St. Charles-Marseille Airport almost left without me - but with my baggage in the trunk. He knew about me because moments before he told me to go to the office and buy the ticket, when I came back from the office (10 m from the bus stop) he was already leaving. I screamed like crazy and basically sticked myself onto the door, only then he let me in.

What a piece of dumbass.

We have, but unfortunately we still need to work to gain them.

A strike is pretty much a Romanic thing I think... French, Italians, Spaniards, even Walloons... They strike much more often than Dutch, Germans or Scandinavians (don't know about Slavic countries).

The only sector in "the north" where strikes are fairly frequent is public transport.

Duh. That sounds like a pretty good reason for a detour. And I also doubt it was the driver's decision.

Countries like France, Italy, Greece etc. have very strong labour unions. If most of the workers in public transportation, for example, belong to a labour union, it's relatively easy to organise a strike.

I went ask him what the hell is he doing as soon as he went for peripherique so yes, it was his decision. As far as if it was a good reason or not, there are always jams there, so what, buses won't serve their stations because of that?

That's true, but one of the most powerful union system is here in Germany, and they don't strike very often...

Why should we? I feel pretty comfortable in my country even if my salary is much lower than in Netherlands or GB for example.

There wouldn't be any "U.S." if it wasn't for all the Europeans moving there in the 17th - 19th centuries
