Meanwhile in Russia ...

Is it RHD vehicle again or was it a passenger that stepped out to fight?

Those Thai letters look like an artistic version of Latin letters. The Thai word above "DRINK" looks like "INSOVAU" to me.

The forecasted Dutch "horror winter" so far has been horrific indeed - that is, if you like winter weather. The coldest recorded temperature was a staggering -0,1 °C.

There is a prediction of a Siberian anticyclonic getting over Europe in middle of January. +

Terracina, south of Rome. 16°C today. I took a stroll on the seaside wearing only a t-shirt

Halsteren, The Netherlands. In the southwest of the country: 10,4 degrees at 18:35 on 31st december. That's just crazy

Not to my knowledge, but I usually upload them at 800 px to save upload time.

For what it's worth, the (current) last page of the Belgium thread, which has a lot of yours, is taking a very long time to open.

But I like the pix. :-)

The Belgian thread page has 26 megabytes of photos in it. What's a typical internet speed in the United States? I could download it in less than 10 seconds.

Does it mean that you resize them before uploading?

Yes, I use Easy Thumbnails if I'm lazy or I resize them photo by photo (and cut away non-interesting sections) if I feel like spending a lot of time.

I can't speak for typical; I have a 4G mobile device because I can travel with it. I don't know speed, but it would take two minutes or more to open a 20-meg file. That seems to depend on the site, though; I subscribe to some European papers in PDF editions and some (like Le Monde) consistently download much faster than others.

I am enjoying our relatively mild winter - fingers crossed - partly because I hate cold weather, and partly because I was literally snowed in much of the last two winters (we had unusual amounts of snow, my car had a plow create a big mound behind it after one storm, I didn't leave the city because I had no idea what the roads would be like out in the sticks...) I'm torn between taking a long walk and a random drive this afternoon - enjoy the mobility while it lasts. Maybe the walk this afternoon and a random drive tomorrow....

Well, I'm going to tear myself away now and do one of the above. Happy New Year to all; it may be midnight on the Continent before I'm back on line....
