Hmm... I have about 2000 pics to upload and usually, when had smaller amount of images I used Photo Shop to resize them or, when more, picasa which is really easy to operate uploader and resizer in one, but currently I am in Poland and have no access to PS and unfortunately I found picasa making my older pictures disappearing. Thanks Chris anyway. I will sort it out somehow.

Edit:

Happy New Year to everyone!

So are there any new road rules taking effect in your countries today? Like new speed limits.

The "Rettungsgasse" takes effect in Austria. You have to drive as far to the left and right as possible to create a route for emergency vehicles in the center of the roadway (they don't want to use the shoulder for that anymore).

What's the advantage in that? What will be of emergency lanes and shoulders?

I think they don't want to rely on shoulders because they are often narrow or non-existing with all the tunnels and bridges.

So are they going to build new motorways without emergency lane? In this case it would be useless and redundant.

I bet no one else last weekend got 30 C, almost continuous thunder/lightning and a white Christmas in the one day??

Most unexpected in Melbourne to have a white Christmas!!!

Well it wasn't quite snow but almost convincing. The hailstones were nearly golf ball sized and we got smashed with a hailstorm for ten minutes and it turned the landscape white.

No. They will build them as before.
"Rettungsgasse" is more effective than using hard shoulders. Hard shoulder is built primarily for vehicles that have problems.

It is used also in Germany (already for 30 years), Switzerland, Slovenia and Czech republic

The Netherlands doesn't use it, but our shoulders are quite wide and also continuous near interchanges and ramps.

I experienced (and performed) one in Germany, during a snowstorm. It seemed quite strange to me, but I just copied what others did.

I once was on a motorway in Germany and an ambulance did come along but all the cars I could see just went into the slow lane and the ambulance went past in the fast lane. Then again, there was a lot less traffic than in that photo

I think it works like that just if there is a traffic jam.

You can test your connection with www.speedtest.net. My result with a USB internet key is appalling (using it it seems even slower).

My internet is advertised at 40 mbit. Which I get. Upload would be better if it was a little faster though.

This happened to us on New Years Day at around 3:15 am, returning from Made to our home in Halsteren. We nearly hit a police road block, te road was closed due to an accident. That accident is also visible in the video.

That scared the shit out of us

I'm not at home, but I suppose the result will be similar, as I use the same type ADSL connection there and also through wireless router:

The hailstorm lasted ten minutes, then after that heavy rain came for a bit and melted the hailstones, We were then left with a whole lot of water in the back yard which we then had to prevent flooding. We got a little water seepage into couple of rooms in the house but fortunately nothing major, and the damage around the house was minimal too. It did however wreck a lot of the plants in the garden.
