Oh, please, serious, not again this talk about cities whose names sound funny in other language. We have these every 2 weeks and gets boring - no offense intended at all.

I only wanted to share my pictures.
And btw, the village looks very nice, and the landscapes are beautiful. We really liked that region. The only reason we drove there, was, because we visited Burghausen, so it was near ******* .

I agree, but you misunderstood - it was a clever way of saying I got sunburnt without ignoring cinxxx's post.

My apartment building got evacuated last night. A known offender here burned down a scooter and fled the scene, while his apartment was filling with gas. Luckily no explosion.

Maybe it was his way of wishing a happy Workers' Day...

There is no such day in the Netherlands. Probably the only country in Europe where May 1st is not a public holiday.

I know. Maybe it was just his way to say "why isn't Workers' Day a public holiday?"

And you didn't visited Petting? It's a bit further South of *******, back into Germany.

This time I only say that Pula is also known as Pola . But many of you know the Romanian meaning of the Croat name.

My apologies, I really didn't mean to attack anyone. It is just that I'm a bit tired of the repeated "funny city name" thing. Maybe you could create a thread for that and keep all the "oh this sounds so funny in xyz language" there. Just a suggestion

Pulj! A question for Croats: is it true that locals call Pula "Pulj" (like in Slovenian)? This is what Wikipedia says:
Quote:
Pula (pronounced [pǔːla]; Latin: Colonia Pietas Iulia Pola Pollentia Herculanea; Italian: Pola; Istro-Romanian: Pola; Chakavian: Pulj, German: Polei, Slovene: Pulj)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pula

There is technically. The first Monday in May is our May day.

AFAIK May Day is not a workers celebration but a rather generic "springtime" holiday...

Our May Day is more to do with Pagan rituals. However, since 1978 all traditions & festivities were moved to the same day.

Whilst Labour is one of the two main political parties in Britain we don't have a de-facto workers day, but it is widely accepted by everyone that May Day is the workers day similar to those in Europe. Hence why I said technically.
