Poland has no beaches and New York City is located in the Arizona desert, right?

There are smart & dumb people all over the world. There are such "interviews" in Romania too, but I won't publish them because I bet you don't understand Romanian...

I'm sorry, but when I think of shoreline I would want to beach at, Gdansk does not come to mind. In fact, I basically picture Rotterdam-East with dockyards as far as the shoreline extends.

Gdansk might not have the best beach around, but the point is that Poland has beches. It's not landlocked like other countries.

With all those Barges coming in and out of port, I'd be leery of going into the water in Gdansk or anywhere along the Sea(which is by far the most industrial sea in Europe). We're not talking about the pristine, touristy Mediterranean Sea here with cruise ships and the like.

On the upside, the chances of a Costa Concordia up north are extremely low so that may be an appealing selling point.

Even in Gdańsk city there are many beaches - here you have. One in Sobieszewo island is the best for me.

Maybe Baltic sea is industrial, but it's not impediment to take a great rest at Polish seaside, of course outside ports and their areas (which aren't so numerous - there are only 3 bigger ones: Gdańsk, Gdynia and Świnoujście). Real problem is very variable weather there, you may go there glad from forecasts and find a rain and low temperature... That's why I plan my greater holidays always somewhere in Southern Europe.

And about that conversation I've shared at previous page - somebody told that it's strange American sense of humour - should I believe?

Again, you don't know much about the Gdansk area. Koliba (Sopotu), Brzezno & Stogi (Gdansk) beaches are all Blueflag accredited.

But, first of all... can a nation play beach volley only if it has beaches?
Funny, I'm watching the (very pretty) couple of Switzerland playing against Russia....
