Like bogdymol wrote, people may do it to keep the car clean. I do it as well

I do that too, it depends on the fuel station, but some still have a considerable amount of fuel in the nozzle when you shut the pump off, I don't want to spill that over my car or the pavement. Not liters of course, but more than a few droplets.

How can people get involved in such basic accidents. If it says 2,6m, a 3m+ camper WILL NOT pass :p

A few years ago the caravan of my parents overturned on the A26 in France. The whole thing was totalled, and luckily I was in the area with my van to get all their stuff out. The ravage inside was unbelievable. But a box of eggs in the fridge survived...

Did you see that scene personally?
It happened to some friends of mine to hitting a low rock with their camper on a mountain road in Portugal.

Well, I saw something similar just yesterday.

This is near my mother's office:

https://maps.google.ch/?hl=en&ll=45....338.59,,0,10.8

When I arrived, this thing:

had already been divided into this:

and this:

This is probably the sixth time this has happened in that place... that walkway stopped things even more serious that a delivery van and is still in place
Once it was a crane truck... the whole building vibrated up to the 12th floor my compliments to the designer of that walkway

They never applied height barriers, probably because delivery vans and trucks need to reach that spot without having to pass under that low thing. Anyway, that's a minor road with plenty of nearby alternative routes.

a footage from weird and dangerous situation from A1 just beside the bridge Krka. there were some testings of gas line, but obviously they have made too much pressure, or just the plug wasn't tightened enough. so the plug has bounced over the motorway leaving the dust curtain. the plug was heavy few hunderds of kgs.
