Thank God you don't understand Romanian
Generally it's best not to read the comments. Human stupidity, Romanian national sport is everyone knows everything about everything, idiotic nationalism, anti/pro Hungarian manifests, and of course people who are payed to write propagandist stuff.

This was like a random comment in the newspaper debate, I didn't even get it at first. So congratulations.

Congratz!

If I have children in Netherlands, an increasing possibility, I will give them Frisian names, which are the most interesting names in continental Europe.

What you think of naming your daughter Yfke for instance?

Most likely Austrian, as the birth will take place here. I have a dutch passport, she has a Russian one. We will stay here for now and decide at a later stage to move back to the UK or not...

It will be my first one...

My mum is Frisian, with a very Frisian name. Lots of Frisian names in that side of the family. But as we don't know yet if we stay in Austria, or move back to England or even France, we decided it will have an English name, but easy to pronounce in German, French and Russian. If its a boy it will be Maximilian, calling name Max.

Philadelphia currently 23C (73F), forecast 27C (81F). Not a cloud in the sky. And it's been like this all week. :-)

Yfke? not so strange in Croatia. one of the most comon names here is Ivana (like Trump, just different accent ). but in northwestern Croatia we call our Ivanas Ivka, and you read it more like Ifka. what is really similar to Yfke

So... you are half Dutch, have English... and living in Austria. Your wife/girlfriend is Russian. Your child will be a mix.

Anyway, congrats

Flippant response 1: Unsurprising: there aren't many public squares with cafes on them there.

Flippant response 2: That's 'cause Europeans think history only happens in Europe.

:-P

Because it's true, but apart from that we also studied something that happened somewhere on the other side of the Ocean. I'm (sort of) familiar with Appomattox, Gettysburg, Alamo and stuff, but Antietam, never heard of it.

And I also learned the world "flippant", which is gonna become my fav of the American idiom.

I didn't know Italians had this sign about closure, but it's logical.

How can sodium lights blink so quickly?

Verso: it is very common for Italian Autovie Veneto company to announce Slovenian road closures because of wind. That is something that I miss in Slovenia because there is never a sign around Ljubljana to announce road closure or even a traffic jam 50 km away.
