I think that technically I can drive in Portugal with my licence, despite the fact that you can't get a licence there till you're 18 but not in Spain or France, so I have to wait till November for that.

About mechanics German I would have something to complain...I have never seen so many stranded cars like on german highways! Once from Basel to Gießen I counted 12 standed cars along the road...bad sign

What is the altitude above which motorways are avoided to be built due to high snow clearing costs and risk of ice(continental moderate climate)? Could a general rough estimation be given or it depends too much the specific location of the road(terrain, winds, slopes etc.) ?
