The best are Hungarian town names though
Hungarian place names appear to be unreadable at first, but they often have the same structure of words. If you can take these apart quickly, it's not hard to read Hungarian place names.

For instance Fertőszentmiklós, a town near the Austrian border. It appears to be a difficult name, but if you take it apart in Fertő, szent and miklós, it's not that hard. If I'm correct, "szent" means holy and miklós is probably a name of a person. According to Wiktionary, fertő means swamp.

How about the Welsh town of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch? Or that hill in New Zealand called Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu? Oh, and just for the info: I didn't looked at Wikipedia for write the names .

BTW :

Check out Wiki: they made the long version up to attract tourists. Which to my mind is cheating.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Llanfairpwllgwyngyll

EDIT: On the other hand, the original name of Los Angeles (in the colonial period) was something like "La Ciudad de Nuestra Señora la Reína de los Ángeles de Porciúncula."

And CNGL, that's from memory too.

Fertő is also Hungarian for Lake Neusiedl (Neusiedler See).

That works if you know something about the language. If not, then the names appear just strings of letters without any meaning or structure.

Try these:

Suontaustankulma
Rajamäenkylä
Äkäsjokisuu
Rautaojanperä
Niinivedenpää
Savikummunsalo

Szent Miklos is Saint Nicholas in Hungarian. Michael would be Mihaly.

I'm thinking of maybe doing a mini vacation trip in 1-4 November
Thought of something like this http://goo.gl/maps/fL64v
It's just a thought, maybe you could recommend something else.

Dunno about the weather though...

nice! The weekend here will be rainy, but then it should be good again (16C max). I dont know about Ljubljana, can be foggy and freezing in november (check the weather). I would add Trieste as stopover.

Ljubljana was more a thing, if I already pass it, maybe it's worth also to stop.
Everything is only concept, have no accommodations.
Anyway, if it's a little cold it's still ok, I can dress up, but if it rains (hard) then it kinda sucks.

What about vignette? I found a website where it says:
Weekly vignette for (two-track) motor vehicles EUR 15
Monthly vignette for (two-track) motor vehicles EUR 30
Annual vignette for (two-track) motor vehicles EUR 95

Yes, but in this case it has a little bit different meaning. Fertő is the Hungarian name of the Neusiedler See so that several towns nearby have the same prefix in their names (and even more had it before 1920).

In almost every country of Europe there are several towns having the same name. E.g. Germany has more than one Frankfurts. In everyday speech you only say 'Frankfurt' but if you have to be more precise you say 'Frankfurt am Main' or 'Frankfurt an der Oder', where both Main and Oder are rivers. In Hungary we use this additional, precisement tags as prefixes. E.g. in Hungary there were several towns and villages named by St. Nicholas (Szent Miklós in Hungarian). In everyday speech all of them are simply called as 'Szentmiklós'. But for being more precise, all of them have a prefix. The on in the Gyergyó region is called 'Gyergyószentmiklós' (now in Romania, Gheorgheni), the one by the Danube river is called Dunaszentmiklós (Duna is Hungarian name for Danube), the village near the Tarna river is called Tarnaszentmiklós, the one on a Danube island is called Szigetszentmiklós ('sziget' is the Hungarian word for 'island'), the one near the Fertő lake is called Fertőszentmiklós, etc., etc.
The full, quite long list of Szentmiklóses can be found here

So I hope you enjoyed my explanation about Hungarian geographical names ;-)

Croatian news portals are writing about a woman who was a wife of Anwar al-Aulaqi, some big face in al-Qaeda. that's not all, she is from my hometown. and that's not all, she is/was my neighbour
