There is a database, according to the article:
This is illustrated using the data series developed by the late Angus Maddison of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development that included historic estimates of economic performance by geographical area (nations and other reported geographies) from 1500 to 2000. The Maddison data is expressed in international dollars adjusted for purchasing power, so that the impact of inflation and differing prices is factored out, to the extent feasible.

Meanwhile... we had just a tiny bit of wind yesterday.

This Streetview image shows just how high that bridge is...

Talking about dykes, and levees, and dams like in the Netherlands thread: some arab sheiks want to build an artificial island in the Adriatic, 3 miles from Italian coast at Riccione. An artist's impression:

In just 25 days, according to the Mayans, the world will end. This gives me just under four weeks to save the world. If you're still here on the 22nd of December, you will know I was successful.

In appreciation for saving the world I will accept money, exotic cars and property as a form of payment.

Now if you excuse me, I have a job to do...

Using Street View i have not seen anemometar on the viaduct but noticed wind sign towards wrong direction.
Acording to EU guidelines wind sign has to be properly directed and thus alarming driver from which direction comes danger.

Agree. In those circumstances must be applied dynamic signalisation.

"must" is really exaggerated for a road above.

that is highway in pretty rich country, why not.
It makes no sense that they use static signs for warning of the occasional danger.

Today I read a FB post written by a law student of Trieste university (from southern Italy) where he asked if the passport is needed to enter Slovenia. But the best thing is that he studies political sciences (they have many lessons about EU treaties and laws).

The way I look at it, variable signs are a bit overkill -- I feel that simply knowing that you may run into crosswinds is sufficient.

That said, the tunnel just further up the road does have variable speed limit signs: the speed limit is usually 90 km/h, but the tunnel operators can drop it to 60 km/h should it be necessary (I last noticed that when the section of road immediately outside the tunnel was being patched up).

I am quite sure there is no EU regulation about this, nor any guidelines.

The Vienna convention does not post such a guideline either. It allows the sign to be reversed.

Concerning VC, article 7:

‘Nothing in this Convention shall prohibit the use, for conveying information, warnings or rules applying only at certain times or on certain days, of signs which are visible only when the information they convey is relevant.’

As for the first part of your comment, I shall try to find some documents that I read some years ago (it concerns dinamic signalization-VMS).

4x2 divided highway in 1922?
Well, not reality but the project "Ville Contemporaine de 3 Millions d'Habitants" by Le Corbusier!

Could it be one of the first idea ever of divided highway and grade separation?

Already in 1914 (!) the Italian artist Antonio Sant'Elia drawed "the city of the future", with many skyscrapers and multi-level roads with separation between pedestrian and automobile traffic.

Sorry Ron, IMO static sign that shows temporary danger 24 hours a day and 365 days in the year is more than a bit overkill.

The 1908 Long Island Motor Parkway in suburban (then rural) New York already featured consistent grade-separation, but it was a two-lane road. The first divided highway in the New York area was the Bronx River Parkway, the first part opened in 1922, but it didn't feature full grade-separation (there were left turns).

Yeah, I want to see those EU guidelines. Often many people say about some guideline that actually don't exist. Which EU directive please?
