When I was a kid I played in the middle of the street all the time... but to be honest, it was a 1500 inhabitants village and my street had a AADT of ... who knows, 10 or 12...

The next step will be to ban cars and return to horse and carriage

It's normal, if you're used to it.

People don't drive their cars in playgrounds, so you can also not expect to be able let children play on busy streets.

It's quite bad if you listen it, and have to write or use the number some way. And although you know very well, how to handle numbers, you are not used to it and if you hear "zweiundvierzig" (fourty two, but literally "two and fourty") you automatically write 24 instead of 42.

I believe the Norwegian government actually did try to change the rule (from seven-and-twenty to twenty-seven) for their language, but it didn't take. Language doesn't work that way.

German numbers are very easy for Dutch because they use the same order. Vierundvierzig - Vierenveertig. French numbers however, is something most Dutch students struggle with the most. They teach the french order by the way, not something like nonante-sept like in Wallonia and Frenchtzerland.

Would you please stop making political statements here? Kosovo is not a "province", just like Romania isn't Hungary.

Well, since Romania doesn't recognize it, I just follow my country's external policy
But I don't have anything against you or the people living in Kosovo (there, happy now? )

I meant, if it's your mother tongue. Somehow I doubt you'd wanna change it, if it was the same in Italian.

This is a forum about roads and skyscraper, not politics. If you want to "follow your country's external policy", go to the DLM and open a thread there.

I was so concerned you had something against me that I wasn't going to be able to sleep tonight. Thanks for putting me at ease.

I've often wondered whether non-French-speaking Belgians and Swiss learn their countries' version of French. By the way, the teaching of French in the U.S. takes no account at all (at least, it didn't in my day) of Quebec, even though it's right there.... Does JoshSam or Thermo know?
