Eh, I hear Berlusconi's been, um, saying interesting things again. Maybe he should consider a quiet retirement.

No, she says:
"It's time to pass the crown to the next generation"
"It's not because the responsibility of being the monarch had not been too great"

Both Julliana and Wilhemina abdicated, it's also not a real problem by law.

Oh, it's going to be "King Willem-Alexander", not Willem IV

So I hear. I've been half-understanding the NOS livestream. What's the issue with Maxima's family?

Most interesting of all, if they toss in a new currency altogether.

Oh, please no! I'm doing anything I can to avoid hearing that name or him talking I just turn the tv off... especially because I'm usually eating while watching the news, so it's better for my digestion

Her father was minister of agriculture in the Videla-Regime. Allegedly he knew or didn't knew about force labour, murders and the lot. It's a little bit Dutch to blow it out of order. Yes, he might have known what happened, but Maxima is not her father and you can't blame her for what happened or didn't happen.

"Voortaan" = "from now on"?

Seriously, is she unwell? Just retiring? Didn't Juliana abdicate as well? In the English-speaking world (including countries that officially shouldn't care one way or the other about monarchy), we're used to them dying on the job.
Yes, according to Wikipedia, Juliana abdicated in 1980 and died in 2004. Maybe is their tradition to abdicate when they're old, don't know.
During the Kingdom of Italy (1861-1946) our kings stayed at power until they died (Vittorio Emanuele II and Umberto I, while Vittorio Emanuele III died in exile after the republic was proclaimed).

I like euro coins with a different design for each denomination, like in Italy, Austria, Slovenia and Greece.

You mean the apology of Mussolini on the holocaust remambrance day? It's not new with such statements. Years ago it said that Mussolini never killed anybody and sent people to holiday at the "confino" (confino was a sort of punishment in which political opponents were forced to live in remote places such the Pontine islands, ofthen in inhumane conditions). After 9\11 it said that "we should show our racial superiority towards Arab people".
Maybe in some way he envies Mussolini, since he managed to run a dictatorial regime and control the masses, the forbidden dream of Berlusconi.

It wold be ok as long as he would not be in touch with the royal family and present at official occasions. As I understand from the latest news he lied about being involved, which is now proven.

But anyway the royal family has its own past problems e.g. with Bernhard, they don't really care so much about this I think.

Since he's the father of the princess, is not that easy for the royal family to halt any relationship with him.
