There is clearly embarrassment that - while the French have already drilled and completed 10km (six miles) of exploratory tunnels - on the other side of the border, Italian progress on a five-mile tunnel amounts to a scrape in the mountainside approximately 10m (11 yards) deep - a parking space for a double-decker bus.

Only another 8,036m (five miles) to go, then!

Yeah they have good chocolate. In addition, Kinder means about the same in German as it does in Dutch (children), which makes the brand name quite appropriate in Germany and the Netherlands.

Not to mention the English word Kindergarten which has just blatantly been borrowed from German

"Kinder" brand is pretty well known among Italian kids (and adults )*, although many don't know its German meaning.

* not surprisingly, being a brand owned by Ferrero.

Speaking about Kinder, one day I did something similar with this with a Kinder that I gave to my girlfriend:

That is American English. In proper English we still call it a nursery.

Is true that Kinder Surprise eggs aren't sold in the USA because of some legal controversies?

Hmm, my Longman dictionary of contemporary English has the following definition:

1. AmE: a school or class for children aged five.
2. BrE: a school for children aged two to five.

And in the Oxford English dictionary: http://oxforddictionaries.com/defini...q=kindergarten
