Today is the national memorial day of the revolution of 1848. However, there's chaos in Hungary, especially in the western region of the country. Much snow, strong wind. Many roads are closed, thousands of cars blocked in snow.
All national ceremonies are cancelled in Budapest and people are asked to stay home.
Most of bus services in western Hungary are cancelled, even the ones in Budapest region.

There is also strong wind and heavy snowing in Slovakia. The worst situation is in eastern Slovakia, however there are problems all over Slovakia. Some villages are cutted of the rest of world. Highway D1 near Porprad is closed.
I´ve heard that Hungarian M1 is also under snow.

This is how it looks in Košice:

Highway D1 near Poprad:

Interesting, here it snows as well (very lightly though) and sun is shining at the same time. I don't remember seeing that yet.

Some of them were actually funny, like the one with the truck being towed but most of them involved just people getting hurt which is stupid. I mean, putting a mouse trap on someone's ear while they're sleeping...really?

Well, atleast you could walk all day with a green sweater. And at the end of the day, drink some beer with your friends at a bar or pub or even at home. You have to start somewhere.

Why? They should celebrate Patrick not Irish people, as the Irish people do.

You can drink beer with friends even on non-holidays. And no holiday in the world can convince me to wear a green sweater

By the way, the only other holiday we haven't imported yet is Thanksgiving.
