I'm almost 40, I definitely do not remember such a long winter. However here in Western Germany we can be happy, it's cold but dry, while in Kiew there's one meter snow, and even Budapest is white.

Do you know that famous song, don't you? "I'm dreaming of a white easter".

Not quite...

The Finnish Meteorological Institute tells that this March may be the coldest March in the last 50 years. We do not know yet, as there are a few days left.

The forecast to the south coast shows somewhat warmer for the next few days: daytime +2...+4 and nights -6...-8. One forecasted scenario is the minimal-length spring: The spring lasting only a few weeks, thus moving almost directly from the winter to the summer. This may cause flooding, because most of the snow is still in place.

But the summer still is approaching: The winter-time speed limits will be changed to summer ones gradually starting next week.

I may suggest to do so: I can confirm weather in Venice is really unpleasant, right now... constantly raining, cold, not for walking around...

Well, sir, there's nothing on earth like a genuine, bona fide, electrified, six-car monorail!

Unless tropical heat comes for the weekend, March will be the coldest month of this winter.

Just returned from a one day roadtrip around the Western Pyrenees. I went from Huesca-Jaca-Pamplona-St. Jean Pied de Port-Oloron-Jaca and back to Huesca. I clinched N-135 and reclinched A-21, I had it fully clinched until new sections opened, including two sections totalling 8 km still missing from Google Maps.

I post a 35-numbered road with an interesting history.
http://maps.google.it/maps?q=Villa+O...55.42,,0,17.36
That road was built by Anglo-Americans just after WWII between Sistiana and Villa Opicina in the Free Territory of Trieste. It was double-purpose: road and airstrip in case of war (the iron curtain was close and I-YU relations back then weren't exactly friendly). This explains the exagerate width for a 1+1 road (especially for 1940s standards). This road was classificated as SS202 after this piece of land became part of Italy in 1954. Most of it was upgraded to motorway standards in the 80s (RA13) but this part still survives as was originally built and it's numbered SP35. The SS202 number is now assigned to the southern Trieste bypass that also opened in the 80s.

I know it's a wide road, but I have a map where it's drawn as a motorway.

Can you post a scan? In many maps also the RA17 (A4 - Gorizia), the RA3 (A1 - Siena) and the RA6 (A1 - Perugia) are signed as motorways even if they aren't. The RA17 was undivided until around 2005-2007 but it was signed as motorway even in older maps!
In some very old (1970s) maps also the Taranto - Grottaglie and the Brindisi - Lecce expressways are signed as motorways, while the Matera bypass (1+1) is signed as "half-opened" motorway.

Looks like it's in my car (don't know why since it's ancient). Maybe tomorrow. And yes, RA17 is signed as a motorway as well (just like SS202).

^ SP35? Weird, because it looks like an ordinary road in my atlas of Slovenia from 1985. But RA17 is a motorway.
