Beautiful Schwerin - Capital of Mecklenburg

Schwerin is not a big town, but rather small. (Below 100 000) What it lacks it size, it has in charm. A very well preserved down town straddling on seven lakes with one of the most spectacular Castles in Europe. In sommer the city is a dream. Although for people with a taste for nightlife should get back to Hamburg: still Schwerin has a couple of nice places to hang out. Since I like the city, I have been there a couple of times.

First batch of pictures.

The castle is magnificent. By far Germany's most beautiful state parliament.

This city actually reminds me of a mini Reykjavík.

Next time I'm in Berlin I'm going to make a special effort to make a day trip to Schwerin - fantastic looking place and definitely the best looking city I've seen from its state.

I have to disagree on you on that one for following reasons

1 Reykjavik and Schwerin has different architechtural styles, where Reykjavik is more of a norweigan city and Schwerin is basicly a neo-classical city with some cross-timberd houses.

2 I cannot see the idea Schwerin is a mini-version of Reykjavik. Since they are both around the same size.

@Patrick
I have recent Photos from the Castle...when the renovation work is finished. But I save them for last.
A small update with Schwerin in Autumn

Stunning, I'm really impressed. I especially like the different, though complimentary architectural styles.

Great pics...

Excellent, thanks for the additional photos. Pity you can't get a shot of the Castle without the scaffolding.

Fantastic Johnor, thanks a lot! Schwerin is a true gem of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, I just love the classicist and historicist architecture all-around and the landscape with the lake (Schweriner See) and stuff.
Would be great to live in one of those great mansions aside the lake someday

May I ask where you stayed in M-V during your 3 years habitation? Did you change your domicile in the meantime?

As you know me from APH as Johan, I live in Oldenburg.
In Mecklenburg Ive stayed in Schwerin 3 times, Stralsund 2 times, 1 in Boltenhagen and 1 in Waren. I have also shot one of our movies in Schwerin and Wismar.
