i had a quick look to figure out which of those bridges was the green bridge

is it finished? or is it just me that it crosses the river and leads to... a field

I think thats the one. Basically its a smaller version of Anzac Bridge only its used for busses, bikes and pedestrians - no cars. It terminates at the University of Queensland.

It's finished. The brilliant minds in charge of the University insisted that the bridge road terminate immediately on crossing the bridge. It doesn't even take students to the centre of the Uni, or link with any roads so other busses may use it.

They uni bosses are terrified that the bridge is a trojan horse plan to run major traffic through their sacred realm.

PS - Nice aerial JayT

wow a bridge just for the uni? now thats something ive never heard of before.

and seeing its the only one along that stretch of the river for a preetty long way, id definitely be wanting to use that bridge to get across the river and NOT just to get to uni

A great aerial photo of Brisbane, it certainly covers a large area.

Salisbury (and its industrial estate) - top left corner
Indooroopilly (and Walter Taylor / railway bridges) - top right corner
Morningside - bottom left corner
RNA grounds and Royal Brisbane Hospital precinct - bottom right corner

Also shows just how the Brisbane River snakes it's way through the middle of it all.

That is Indooroopilly Golf Club which consists of 36 holes. There is also St Lucia Golf club nearby which you can also see slightly to the east of it.

Great aerial. It will be great to see the CBD sprawl over the next few years. So compact at present.

Hey that's a cool pic. Is that the Gabba left of the CBD on the other side of the river? I assume it is. I didnt realise the Gabba was so close to the city. And what is that thing above it, on the other side of the freeway? It looks like a big dirt bike track.

The dirt area just above the Gabba is the Boggo Road Urban Village redevelopment.

Yes the Gabba is the round stadium to the left of the CBD and Suncorp is the rectangular stadium just on the right fringe of the CBD

Now all we need is a major stadium in Bowen Hills to complete the triangle.

You can see how much prime land the Indooroopilly Gold Club has, must be worth plenty.

Great shot and deserves its own thread.

I decided to lable a few of the suburbs and outline the area which is under the city centre master plan.

Funny how the city centre is a perfect square when all other streets are so un-planned.
