let's snort a loooong line of PARIS

Considering it was more than a year ago that I posted a thread with never before-seen photos, I thought it was time to go through the pics that I took in Paris in the summer 2007.

I have a couple of requests from you, watcher;

1. Please download this song to your computer. Play it.

2. Please wait until the whole image has been downloaded before you start scrolling.

today we go this way. >>>>>

Sorry for ******* up the formatting of this thread. I sincerely hope it was worth it.

Thanks for scrolling all the way to the end with me.

Staff , I have always been a fan of your photography. I would seriously buy a high quality print of that if it was available. Great title too

Very clever. I scrolled back as the electronica kicked in and did a lil scratchin movements...uhum

Anyway, Paris is simply the greatest metropolis on the planet.

Thanks. I really appreciate it!

fox1,
I use an "old" Canon EOS 350 Digital. I'm thinking of replacing it soon.

Great pics, but I don't think the music is quite appropriate. I would have found this music below more appropriate, at least if you want to give a flavor of the current metropolitan culture of Paris:

^Is that a joke Brisavoine? This as the "culture of Paris"
That may be the culture of some poor scum ridden suburbs, but Paris as a whole, no way.

Quite frankly, I'd rather go for some classical or Jazz.

I suggest you pay a quick visit to a dictionary. Merriam-Webster for instance.

Culture : the customary beliefs, social forms, and material traits of a racial, religious, or social group; also : the characteristic features of everyday existence (as diversions or a way of life) shared by people in a place or time.

The problem with stale old elites is they view culture only as the "enlightenment and excellence of taste acquired by intellectual and aesthetic training", which is another definition of culture given by Merriam-Webster, and they don't consider the rest as culture. Too bad, but culture is much more than just an elevated form of good tastes, good manners and aesthetism. You didn't write the word "barbarism", but somehow it lies behind your apparent contempt for (I quote) "poor scum ridden suburbs".

Anyway, where is Eklips when he's most needed??

Then if we go by your definition, it would mean this violent trash is shared as an everyday life by the people in this place. Let me insure that it is only shared by a minority of the population, thus it's only a part of its culture and is not eligible as its ambassador.
People who will argue against it and defend your point usually enjoy feeding from misery, being simply unable to enjoy life or agree that they are the master of their own destiny.
I hope I don't offend any hip-hop fan here, my point is just about showing it as the culture of Paris.
Thanks for referring to me as belonging to the elite by the way.

brisavoine,
Well, I think the music is quite appropriate after all. Starting off with a classical piece fading into a electro track by Parisian producer Don Rimini.
Anyone who thought I posted only a classical piece of music - listen to the whole track, please.

Thanks everyone for your comments!

If you wanted to go all luvy-duvy Paris, you should listen to Charles Aznavour crooning 'She' or the incredible Edith Piaf. Still following the mellow, melodious bent, perhaps something from the crooner Henri Salvador who has only recently passed away. Any music can go with the likes of Paris. It is a brilliant city. I always love when I am able to live in it when I am in France.
