None of the social groups that constitute the population of Paris has a monopoly on parisian culture. If NTM only represents part of it, so does the jazz music that is loved by the "bobos", the variété of the middle class or the electro/house that yuppies listen to. So both of you are right and wrong at the same time, and this tells more about the image of the city you want to project than about what really represents the city (as if one song could anyways).

Now as for your comment on the culture of the working classes itself, well I'd say that reminds me of how the traditionnal bourgeoisie despised the chanson populaire until WW2. Same thing, different times.
