Today is a special day for the European Union as the Lisbon Treaty went into force. Congratulations to all our fellow citizens of the EU!
Did people celebrate this ocassion in Brussels? Some pictures would be most appreciated.

By the way, Brussels' buildings in your pictures - both old and new look very impressive. Great job.

lol... i don't think lots of Europeans take care about that...unfortunately because Europe needs to be more than ever united today. well hope that the Lisbon treaty forces the Europeans to think like citizens of ONE country: Europe.

A lot of Brussels and Belgium people disagree that. Boring architecture, too much blue glass and not much to do or see after office houres. But indeed, there are some nice buildings among them. Like the Ellips Tower, Covent Garden and the two North Galaxy Towers.
Personal I like the two old black WTC-boxes...

I agree with that. Brussels has got a boring, bureaucratic
image, but it's a lively city with much to see and much to do.
And there are some splendid old neighbourhoods and thousands of monuments.

No celebrations in Brussels that day. But I admit I have to visit the European quarter with my camera one of these months...

Brussel's vintage Citroens

Frankly speaking, I'm not sure that it's Brussels photo, maybe from Paris. I don't remember ))) Check it through serial numbers of the cars

And so is the architectural style of the houses in the background. The telephone number has the 02/ regional code for Brussels, so it's probably there

In Brussels, the common people (=non eurocrats) are not very concerned about European issues. If celebrations take place it will be organised by the EU and the Belgian gouverment.
