Will see though, but expect we will hear a lot about how we have not replaced the Ronnie goals - do not think we need to, Rooney will go centre, we will need players to supply him.
I don't think not replacing Ronaldo is a problem. Last season we weren't playing as much football as the season before due to him coming inside alot and Rooney playing out wide. Now that Ronaldo is no longer with us, Rooney can go back in the centre and if Valencia can supply, the goals should come. If you've watched Rooney for England, you'll know what I mean.

'kinell Real are buying Benzema now. Seems they're snapping up just about every rated player in Europe. 80m Ronny,69m Kaka, 30m Benzema etc etc.

Blatter will be cross.

Or will he?

I've got a feeling that having too many stars on the team just might backfire on the fascist club.

Here's hoping...

St Fucking Michael of Owen.

What the fuck - so, the Glazer's really have fucked the club if this is Ronnie's replacement.

For a club that is paying £45m / year in interest payments just to allow the gimps the run the club this would signal the end for united.

A sign that going forward the club will be asset stripped to make the twats happy.

Oh well, it was fun whilst it lasted - up to May 2005 that will be.

Well, we did offer £25m for Tevez to stay. The kitty is still there. The fact that it would be £100M+ EVERY summer (Real's spending is not that crazy), if we were not paying out £75m in interest each year, is, I am afraid a pointless arguement.

However, we do have £70M+ cash in the bank.

Sign a wannabe star, or make OT 96,000?

Which one will last for 50 years and make us the biggest team in the world?

Personally, I want the investment off the pitch this summer. We can cope.
If Fergie is the greatest he will manage.

I don't see Arsenal, Chelsea or Liverpool signing ANYONE. Glen Johnson! Purrrrleeeease.

The Premiership should be comfortably one again, with only Chelsea being the main threat. Their broken home record hopefully means they will drop too many points.

Now we have 11 players who will battle, perhaps we won't concede as many goals to a non-defending Ronaldo. Dress it up how you wish but he NEVER defended as part of the team.

His goals?

Yeah, well we 'lost' Ruud and won 3 Titles, with 2 Euro finals in the seasons straight after!

Goals scored by one player are irrelevant.

Interesting season, one more before the Divs will be a major threat! Who would have thought that.

Odds?

2-1 title does not leave Manchester for the next 5 years!?

Do not get me wrong, still think we are the strongest team - just that this is one of the first signs of the Glazers (other than the stupid ticket prices).

£80m for Ronnie and £6m for Campbell.

Spent £16m so far.

Owen isn't Ronaldos or Tevez replacement. Hes an extra, like Larrson was. If he doesn't get fit, he won't get his pay. Similar thing that Everton have done with Saha.

United will sign another striker but am convinced its not going to be £30 Million. It will be about £10-20 Million, likely unknown to most but he'll be a 20+ goals a season man, could be French, between 20 to 25 ages of age.

Attracting players

I think the days when the premiership could attract top players is over for the following reasons:

* Pound decline relative to the euro since credit squeeze
* 50% tax band due in soon for people in 150K bracket (i.e. ALL premiership players)
* Tougher league to play

Looks like only City can pay the daft amounts of money at the moment to attract players - but would you want a bunch of mercenaries in your team rather than players who really want to play for you?

Indeed, the PL is handing it's dominance over to Spain slowly but surely.

Jesus Chirst!! I've read it and seen it all now. Not just the above. Pass me a pound of lemon's and I'll cut them in half for the lot of you.

So, your going to piss the league, with everybody else making up the numbers again, even though you've lost your top goal scorer and your main goal supplier, as well as another one of your top attacking players. Why are you lot so down? You've signed Valencia and Michael Owen(£700mill) is on his way, via the MRI to you. Talking about mercenaries. They don't come any bigger than the Glazers. They were only in for the money. Little did they realize how much it would eventually costs them.

PS. Apparently Fergie's in line for £2000 via the Government scrappage incentive.

Exclusive. Picture of Michael Owens crutch at Carrington. (That's his Wife watching it while he has his medical)

Me, I'm off to read about Tevez, Eto and John Terry.

Merely stating the obvious jerb. Look we've been here before, remember how the City fans laughed when we got rid of Whiteside, and then when we got rid of Sparky, Kanchelskis and Charlie, when Cantona left and then Beckham. Okay Ronnie has gone, I wish he hadn't but at the same time I wouldn't want him at OT if he wanted to be somewhere else. Fergie did the right thing.

It is about getting the right players at the right time. We'll see if Owen does come but he knows he needs United more than United need him or else he wouldn't be going for £20-50k basic a week. He has got a lot to prove because he knows he has 70,000 sceptical fans to win over.

Still I would back him to score more goals than Tevez on a goals per match basis thats for sure.

You're right about the Glazers though.

Think it's different this time Nicky. I can sense it. All is not well at OT behind the scenes, and by that I don't mean the playing side just yet. The debt is starting to take it's toll. Players see United as a selling club now. (they know about United's financial problems) They also know that United, for all the history and glory years, can no longer hold on to their top players. The fabric of the club is coming away at the seams.(if you know what I mean?)

Don't get me wrong, I think United will be up there again, but you won't win those games you did last season, when all seemed lost. Ronaldo has gone and so has his goals and his( and your) supply. You can't replace him and won't be able too, no matter who you buy.

Next season's title race will be wide open.

PS. Let's keep it civil, with a bit of humour thrown in for good measure.

With respect Jerb United make great players. Most of the recent great players we got for next to nothing or they came through the youth system. Its about building a team and bringing players on. OK we have splashed the cash for one or two like Rooney, Ferdinand, Berbatov which is the right thing to do if they are good enough and they want to play for you.

As for United being on their uppers think again. Yes the debt is real but United generate more cash they everyone bar Real Madrid and that's only because of the pound deprecation and the fact that Real own their own TV rights. If having nearly £100m in your transfer kitty is being broke then so is almost everyone.

Look City got lucky with a new stadium and new players none of whom have been paid for by the club directly but have been loaned to you by some rich Arab who no doubt will seek to cash in one day so beware of what you wish for because it may come true.
