Görlitz in Saxony. It's the eastern most town of Germany and one of the best maintained. It's situated directly at the border, a bridge over the river Neisse connects it with its Polish part called Zgorzelec.

Völkerschlachtdenkmal (Battle of the Nations Monument) in Leipzig - Europe's largest memorial (91m high).
It's currently under renovation and therefor surrounded by scaffoldings (will be completed on 200 years anniversary in 2013).
