Rottweil (the oldest town in Baden-Württemberg) was founded by the Romans in AD 73 as Arae Flaviae and became a municipium, but there are traces of human settlement going back to 2000 BC.

The Rottweiler dog is named after this town:

There won't be a general reconstruction of all the destroyed buildings as Dr. Seltsam already said.
But since some years there is a trend to reconstruct valuable, sticking-out buildings.

In the last years a lot of run-down medieval city centers has been renovated as well.

Berlin: you can see the Brandenburger Tor, behind the American Embassy under construction.
But don't ask me about that futuristic building in the background.
